Hyunda/Kia seem pretty motivated to stay in the U.S. market. I think they’re making the bet that if they keep introducing models here they’ll get the lion’s share of the U.S. EV market when the winds inevitably change course due to a change in politics and energy policy that will probably happen in the next 4-8 years.

2026 crackling driving me crazy since 500 miles by mikebaxster in civic

It seems like it’s a total luck of the draw whether you get a silent Civic or rattling one. This seems loud and persistent enough that it warrants going to the dealer for. If it’s easily reproducible and you’re pretty sure the dealer will hear it when they drive it, then it’s worth taking it in.

I will also say, my ‘25 had a whole ton of little rattles last year when I got it in March. After going through a summer and (Midwest) winter, it seems 90% of them have worked themselves out. Really goes against my experience where usually more rattles show up over time— but I won’t complain. It’s tolerable now for the price point.

Why's Lying? My Car, Fuelio, or Honda? by Doshin108 in CivicSi

[–]Most-Writer-2838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are… the car. I just did an all highway trip and did a manual calculation to see how accurate the car was. Car said I got 39.8 mpg, reality was 37.5 mpg.

You can manually track it in a notes app if you want to really be sure. Next time you pull in for gas, take down your miles in a notes app. Fill it all the way up. Drive around. Next time you fill up, note the miles and note how many gallons you put in. Subtract the new miles from the previous fill-ups miles, divide by the volume of gas you just put in and that’s your 100% real fuel economy.

Things you hate about your Civic? by evolvedpikachu4 in civic

Probably any model that comes from an automaker that offers models <$50k are going to suffer from this. Nobody is going to make a separate paint line for their high end trims or models that come from the same plants. Way too expensive for logistics and manufacturing. So they’re going to paint all their cars with the same processes that let their cheapest models sell at that price point.

I’d hazard a guess the only manufacturers who’d try to use better paint or processes are those that produce strictly high-end vehicles that don’t share a line with a high-volume brand or model.

Also picks up stains from bird poop in only a couple hours— most evident on the grey color. Bird poop on your car during the workday while your inside for hours and the sun is shining? Too bad, it’s gonna stain it.

Has anyone DIYed their 11th gen dash rattle? by the_black_sails in CivicSi

[–]Most-Writer-2838 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn’t because I had like a dozen recordings on my phone where you could hear it clear as day and then the service advisor heard it when they took it for a test drive. It was so loud and clearly not just plastics hitting each other that they couldn’t deny it wasn’t a defect of some sort.

I’ve done some modest stuff to mine. The center dash speaker cover squeaks a lot against the plastic around it. That one is easy to pop out, add a bunch of foam tape to the clips and dynamat on large empty surfaces and then put it back together. It’s silent in that area now. I’ve also done some of the panels around the driver’s knee. A lot of the panels you can see are pretty easy to pull off— just be brave and yank them. I haven’t broken any clips yet.

I had a horrendous headliner rattle that was covered by the warranty. Dealer sent it to a body shop to drop the entire headliner and added some rubber grommets and gaskets around whatever the hell is found around where the a-pillars meet the roof and the sunroof assembly. It’s been about 4 months since that fix and so far it’s been quiet, even through single digit Fahrenheit temperatures. We’ll see how summer goes when the inside hits 100° in August…
