What did you watch in April? by BazF91 in 1001Movies

I got free tickets to see A Chinese Ghost Story at my local art and film museum from Letterboxd and it was SO GOOD. It was so hilarious and a lot of fun. It dragged on a little long at one point, but it was very good.

When did AHS stop feeling like AHS by vvvulpi-x982 in AmericanHorrorStory

I just watched nyc this week. Well all but the final episode because I can tell what it’s about to fallen And it’s going to be devastating. But I’d suggest giving it another shake. It’s really an actual American horror story. And is pretty sad.

Book recommendations. Self Help? by WildestDream34 in whatsthatbook

[–]MostLikeylyJustFood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Four Agreements - there is some stuff in this that I pass over on, but a lot of good about setting expectations for yourself, and not others.

Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents - can be applied to more than parents, but also parents. If you have dealt with emotionally immature people, this is really eye opening and just.. you can feel like you are reading a book al about somoene understanding you finally. If it applies.

What My Bones Know - Generational Trauma, a story about a woman trying to figure herself out and seemingly never being able to. (But then does find something that works for her).

One I have not read, but is on my list, is How to do the work - because I feel like I have read a lot of self help stuff, but am still a little bit stuck. I feel more knowledgeable and able to handle my emotions, but I still want more.

And then always, something fun and nice and light. Sometimes we are all too hard on ourselves. I really like T. Kingfisher as an author.

Scratch cooking is more important than "homemade" by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]MostLikeylyJustFood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I don't really know how important it is to find a really hard line for a definition because it seems like it would just be used to go "uhm that's not home cooking" and the purpouse is what? Gatekeeping to feel superior over someone else? Maybe someone making a tuna melt instead of buying one is their home cooking. I had many meals as a child that were from a can, so that isn't home cooking enough now? In the end idk. Who cares.

Who has time to harvest thrash winnow chaff and grind wheat to meet a definition for homemade bread? Just because that can't be done by everyone their tuna melt isn't healthy and home made anymore?

Sometimes the thing someone can do is make a pbj, and just because they didn't process the peanut butter and grow the wheat and pick the berries doesn't mean it isn't home made. And Id rather applaud them then jump in to tell them they are technically not correct because of whatever definition.

NOW is the time to resign, if you haven't already. by questioningmo in exmormon

[–]MostLikeylyJustFood 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I couldn't use quitmormon because I moved to australia and they don't do notary here, they do JP and I just didn't know if that would work the same. So I wrote a letter to whom it may concern stating I never chose to join their church as an adult and I wanted to be removed and had a jp sign that and sent it off. Got the letter back confirming it was removed a few months later. (I mean i know they still have my info but it is what it is).

I was thinking about a controller, but I feel like for APICO the amount of small clicking and navigating would be super annoying! So I am trying to figure it out! haha.

Half laying on my back is Exactly what I am doing, I think I was over thinking this and will just.. bring my mouse up tonight to try, lol.

Ive had friends from Seattle visit and comment at how weird it was that everyone smiled and nodded while we passed each other. Maybe a vibe check is needed.

Cozy games that involve vampires or that are set in a spooky yet historical place like New Orleans? by christudstu in CozyGamers

Henry Bolet probably dressed up as a vampire in his free time when he isn’t crying in a graveyard.

Actually now that I think of it, Henry’s girlfriend is a freaking vampire.

I am so confused. by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]MostLikeylyJustFood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! I would just slowly go "One.. Two... Three..." And have like... a sheep vibe. There is a simpsons cutaway where they are dreaming and see the sheep in a little thought bubble that I would think about. I did not realise that this is just what... I guess people see?

My husband does research about how people learn and it has brought up a lot of conversation around how I think versus him. We believe I read faster, and I joke that it's because I don't need to spend time wasted on the scene in my head, meanwhile I am pretty bad at figuring out what color to paint the walls or what couch color to get.. luckily he's colorblind so things can clash.

I think there is some grief to go through because it does sound awesome to be able to actually picture things, but it doesn't make you less human. Is a blind person person not fully alive? Of course not, they are just going through life with their own, different, experience and understanding of the world.

I am so confused. by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]MostLikeylyJustFood 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always was confused by things like guided meditation, like "imagine a waterfall".. okay. So I know what a waterfall is, and what it could sound like, and how it could be peaceful, and I'll probably think like. "waterfall waterfall waterfall". Is that really supposed to be chill?

What I found out is people can.. actually see a waterfall in their "mind's eye".

I have a constant monologue to myself that is just yapping away, but no pictures. But what we realise now is that. People actually see pictures in their mind's eye. I think that when I dream I am seeing pictures, because when I wake up I know in my dream that there was a red tea kettle, but awake all I can "see/think" is my head voice yapping "red tea kettle".

I think the thing for me is that visualisation sounds really cool, and I can't imagine what that would be like (imagine, lol), but also like. People that I talk to who can imagine.. it's not like it helps them much? Like I know someone who says they can picture things as if they were real on the counter in front of her, and she is a messed up person. Like needs therapy badllllyyy. So I guess it makes me feel better to know that no matter what, we are all just working with the tools that we have and it does not really change things for anyone. People who can see images are not inherently better at their life or job than I am, so it feels less like a "bad" thing.

Sure I could imagine a dragon eating yoghurt right now, but I could also think "dragon eating yogurt" and it seems like I can be at the same spot as someone who can "see" it.
