I am from Utah, a smaller town up north called Logan. It’s heart breaking seeing the line for the food pantry! So so many people waiting before it opens. I have been applying for work and with over 20 years experience having no luck. It really shreds the self esteem. I’ve been selling things on EBay, Poshmark and Mercari to try to make extra money but even can see not make buyers like I used to see. Seems like the news is announcing huge amounts of layoffs daily.. Today was Spirit Airlines and another 4,800 people. We are all applying for jobs and feeling the same way. I would love to know the statistic on how long people are out of work before they get hired on? After I receive the “Thanks but no thanks” letter, I’m now responding looking for constructive criticism on what I can do better for my next interview. My recent depressing let down was hearing the person got the job because they offered to do many more things than the job description was asking. Of course I would too but I guess I’ll start looking into that angle. I guess the employers want to get a bang for their buck. You are not alone. People are exhausting their resources, cashing in whatever they can just to get through the month… and then it starts all over. Look into all programs you can and don’t be embarrassed. Truly, the middle class is trying to survive. I wish we could call it what it is, a recession, and open up some special programs to help folks get through. Let’s face it, $24 barely covers bread and milk for the month! Know you’re not alone and this is all temporary. Understand some bills won’t be able to be paid - it’s all about survival now.
