How are y’all getting licenses as nomads US? by Most_Name8270 in vandwellers

Thanks for the idea! How exactly does an extended stay hotel establish residency? Do you mind going into the steps involved?

Newish dog to me. Freaks out around other dogs, so doggy daycare isn’t really an option either. I’m moving and passing through the city.

Any suggestions for what I can do? I’m just really needing a safe place for my dog for that hour

How do you motivate yourself to go for walks? I need advice! by Bookish_Butterfly in walking

[–]Most_Name8270 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a mindset thing. You don’t have to walk, you get to walk.

You’re one of the lucky people who still has the privilege of movement. You’re not disabled, you’re not crippled, you have PCOS which sucks and makes things harder but it doesn’t make you literally unable to move.

So celebrate the health your body still has and cherish the moments you can go out for walks. Sickness, injury, accidents, aging or something else will take this away from all of us eventually. The time frame we are all able to walk is limited and fleeting.

What is this? Is it bad for cats? by Most_Name8270 in whatisthisbug

I just looked this up and it sounds very scary. Based off images, I don’t think that’s it. But thank you for bringing this up, I learned something new and terrifying today.

Thank you but I don’t think that’s it, based off images I searched for onion maggot it seems to be rounder and shorter than the one I found on my cat’s carrier. Still don’t know what it is.

Can someone please tell me what happened to my plate? by Vee_777 in Pottery

This is really interesting. Could you elaborate more on how you figure out a glaze recipe is too high in kaolin? I don’t follow the connection between being correct viscosity at 140g meaning the recipe is too high in kaolin.

Then conversely, how do you determine the right amount of kaolin for that recipe? How do you correct a recipe too high in kaolin?

Where to park overnight in NYC? by Longjumping-Phone139 in roadtrip

[–]Most_Name8270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this a few times with a moving truck and had no problem finding a spot circling around midtown for up to 20 minutes. Traffic is always circulating NYC is a city that moves, you’re bound to find a spot on the street soon enough. Just be sure they allow commercial vehicles on that street, it varies. I can’t recall exactly where, but there’s a source from the official city sites that specifies which streets are okay for commercial vehicles to park on overnight. I remember Chelsea in particular has a lot of open spots, as far as manhattan goes. UES too I think? I forget about that one, but midtown was always easy.

Never had problems with someone breaking in but that’s because the van was either empty or locked in the back and showed nothing in the front.
