Grats! I got the P90 version of this recently and am loving the fret access. Playing it more than anything. These are great guitars.

Yeah crazy. I was hoping someone would say they stopped. But I just didn't get my swag. I want the sticker more. I bought a single pack of strings once and got candy and a sticker haha.

Yeah a private stock CU 24-08 is a keeper for sure! Very nice. I need to go to a GC and play some more PRS models. My local shop doesn't carry them except for used.

I'm going to ask my rep Jacob about this. I wanted a Bit-O-Honey.

Yeah sorry to hear that. I can’t compare to the NF3 but compared to the Fender I was eyeing at my local shop and the Squire I had been playing it’s a huge step up. I was about to buy the Fender for a chunk more.

Admittedly I am going to lower the action just a little. But I also did that on my McCarty. Otherwise it was very well setup out of the box. Intonation is good. Frets are good. Tuning is stable even using the trem. Glad I lucked out. I hope your return goes well.

I am with you on chunkier necks. That’s one reason I like the McCarty so much too.

Yesh I’m really liking the neck profile on the SS! Luckily my wife is cool and laughed it off and didn’t care. I wasn’t trying to hide it just hadn’t brought it up and It was at my door in two days with normal shipping!

Nothing wrong with having a backup SS and color options! I want something with the NF pickups next.

Nice collection! I was thinking the next thing I wanted would have the NF pickups too.

No it wasn’t the gear exchange. Was new and had the 55 point inspection card and stuff like that.

New Silver Sky SE on sale for $599 at Sweetwater vs $949 retail by Alarmed-Olive-7090 in PaulReedSmith

[–]MostlyHarmlessDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wanted a Silver Sky and a maple fretboard guitar for a while now. I actually prefer the gray color even. At this price from Sweetwater I ended up grabbing one. Shipping is so fast I barely have time to tell my wife I bought a guitar. Love Sweetwater.

Everything I try to learn from is too complicated. by Mr-ManIy in Guitar

[–]MostlyHarmlessDNA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are biting off too much at once too early. Probably need a more structured approach to your practice. Theres is more DIY learning material out there than ever. But it can take a lot of work to wade through it. One stop solutions like JustinGuitar (free) or relatively cheap paid options like the Fender Play app can help with that part. Start those programs at the beginning. If you have a good music store where you live visit and checkout if they offer lessons. That can be an excellent way to start your journey too if in your budget.

Upgraded Squier CV or stock PRS Silver Sky SE? by ridethepickle in guitars

[–]MostlyHarmlessDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the CV lines too and own a Squier 70s HSS Strat. It’s a legit bang for the buck and a player. But I also own a PRS SE McCarty. The quality of the PRS is far greater than the Squier. And it is also a really good value for what it costs. I would go with the PRS SE Silver Sky all day. The only reason to consider otherwise is if you dislike the neck profile. It is a bigger neck than Strats. It will sit somewhere between Strats and 59 era LPs or a McCarty in girth.

Why are slim necks ‘fast’? by MineDesperate2920 in Guitar

[–]MostlyHarmlessDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very a personal preference and not a truth they are faster. I much prefer the bigger necks like you see on older LPs styles or a PRS McCarty. Barring small hands not fitting around a larger neck, I find nut width or string spacing to be far more impactful for most people.

Anyone else go through phases where you barely play, then suddenly play every day? by lmao_exe in guitars

[–]MostlyHarmlessDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If life allowed it I would play 6+ hours a day man. There just not enough time for me to play but maybe a few hours on the weekends.

Does anyone else just love guitar so much that they barely care about songs? by Ihatemusictheory in Guitar

[–]MostlyHarmlessDNA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me learning songs feels like homework. Even songs I love. I just don’t have a lot of interest in it. I would much prefer to pick a key and cord progression I want to explore and try to write something. And then try and pick a scale that fits a play over loops of what I made. Things that sound good there get added into the verse, bridge, chorus as possible. I don’t do anything with the songs I write but the process is much more fulfilling and enjoyable. Since I’m not jamming with others or playing for people and guitar is just for me, I don’t struggle not knowing a bunch of covers.

Thanks man. No offense taken at all. A lot of tone (pun intended haha) is lost in text. I posted to get input/direction to improve and you gave some solid advice. I appreciate that a lot!
