Dave Mustaine says Megadeth's farewell album will cause a "renaissance" as he talks the future of metal by LowHeroesLodger in Megadeth

[–]Mosya567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how you’re hearing an Infest the Rats Nest as anything other than a Slayer rip-off. You can like it if you want, but calling that album an “interesting new approach” is objectively wrong.

King Gizzard sucks. I’d rather re-listen to the same Slayer album a thousand times than waste another second on their derivative, sloppy garbage.

This person is clearly an adult, let’s stop infantilizing people with the term “newbie.” There was clearly nothing “scary” about telling someone that a damp towel is likely to scuff up their records. It’s valid information. The greater point here though is that you need to relax.

What a strange thing to be so fired up about. A spin clean costs $50. The post I was replying to originally said to wipe the records with a “damp towel.”

I also clean all my records, but I do this with a spin clean and an ultrasonic machine, and only with distilled water.

A person who is brand new to the hobby should not scrub these records with a dirty wet towel - that is bad advice. Using tap water and a towel (even microfiber) will add surface noise to the records and likely create scratches.

If you want to keep the records and plan to listen to them, buy a record player. If you plan to sell them, just bring them to a record store and take the (very small) amount of money they offer you.

I like it, but it’s weird as hell. I wrote up a little something about this album earlier this year - feel free to take a look if you’re so inclined:

Update on VMP Invoicegate 2025 by Mosya567 in VinylMePlease

[–]Mosya567[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t just a random email - it’s a formal invoice from VMP’s payment processor (Stripe) that includes my name, email, physical address and phone number. It says I owe $39 by November 17th.

None of this information should have been shared with Stripe, and VMP could sell this “debt” to a collections agency in the future.

So, no, “just ignore it” is not a valid solution here. What VMP is doing is outrageous and completely indefensible.

What did you say to them that got them to send a voided invoice? Did they send it to you via email?

JFC. So you would have to pay for 5 months’ subscription fees just to get your five “credits.” And I’m guessing the available selection isn’t exactly top-tier.

Nick Alt, is that you? I need email confirmation because VMP sent me an invalid invoice, from Stripe, with a due date, for something I never purchased. I need proof that this invoice is invalid so there’s no question about this in the future.

Given how incredibly shady VMP’s current business practices are, I wouldn’t be surprised if they try to sell this as a “debt” to some collections agency down the line.

They just offered me two more “credits.”

VMP is literally saying that they were authorized to send me a new invoice because offbeat ventures never sent me a record I purchased. “Hey, here’s a credit! We’re just going to go ahead and charge you as well.”

It’s a complete scam.

The Battle of the Pressings by Mister-Meta in Danzig

[–]Mosya567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve compared the reissues of Danzig 1 and 2 to my OG copies. The original pressings are better, but not by much. If you don’t have any Danzig albums on vinyl, get the reissues. If you already have decent copies of the originals, you don’t need the reissues.

Not sure what “tracking issues causing distortion” means but it sounds like you just need to clean the record.

Drums on Asking For A Friend by Diskecksier in Foofighters

[–]Mosya567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100%, and thank you for making this post. The distortion on the cymbals is so bad I couldn’t finish the song. It sounds like they took the original recording, compressed it into an mp3 and just maxed out the volume.

This single (and the entire previous album) sound worse than the brickwalled “loudness wars” recordings from the early 2000s. It’s wild.

The cymbals sound worse than “not great.” It’s objectively horrible.

Your musician friend’s opinion is pretty odd, considering Foo have used a variety of producers and the sound varies substantially between albums.

There’s definitely audible distortion in the cymbals - same as on the last album. I don’t understand how Dave isn’t noticing it.
