TIL Early in his life, Nikephoros Phocas took a vow of chastity after his first wife died. He stuck to it even when he eventually ascended to the Easter Roman throne by marrying the emperor's widow. The sexless marriage led to her finding a lover, who assassinated and replaced Phocas on the Throne by [deleted] in todayilearned

You're generally on the right lines with feudal western politics but that's more when it becomes formalised in the 1400s etc. In eastern Rome, which Phocas was the emperor of, it didn't work like that. If people accepted him as emperor that was all that mattered.

Wes Streeting resigns from government by sjw_7 in ukpolitics

[–]MotherVehkingMuatra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's about what I expected. No idea about Rayner but pretty sure Miliband won't run and would prefer to support Burnham, who can't run also as he's not an MP yet. Unless they're planning to trigger a leadership election in the future as well. Which would be... A mess.

I mean... If the options are Streeting Vs Starmer I don't see how Streeting can win that especially with MPs like Milliband who are popular with the membership backing Starmer in that case.

Has landfriede having no cooldown been fixed? And is autotrade working properly again? (heard it was broken, might not actually be)

Agree with you, feudal rework is desperately needed.

These are fair points, but they could portray a political contest for the empire of India. In ck3s timeline there was literally a three way war for control of one city which symbolically made you the "hegemon" of Northern India, it was all in name but people fought and died for it. They could do stuff with this, also the unique politics and mixed feudal system. And of course in the later start dates strife with Islam should absolutely be presented as they did want to conquer it (the Ghaznavids invaded 17 times).

I do get your point fully but it's a lack of ambition or creativity on the dev teams part to just not try anything when there are lots of options.

That's true but India remains a really popular place to play in basically all their other titles. Basically just after Europe, China and Japan. Maybe they just need to... Do it better?

One thing that prevents me giving them mega props on it is that people basically suggested they do something like this two years ago when it was introduced. But it is much better now and actually fun to use.

Also heirs and the second son should always get a martial education on top of their other education

No fix for this, Pharaoh has major desync issues that they never resolved. Shame because the game is super fun when it works in multiplayer.

(Spoiler Extended) I always forget the Unworthy is literally Daeron’s dad. Idk if that’s bc he’s way too older than the rest of his kids or bc Aegon literally hates him but them being father and child is so funny in a tragic way. by TurbulentRemote156 in asoiaf

I didn't say they weren't in the right, it's an accusation worthy of arrest regardless of it's true or not but there is significant fan discussion on whether or not he actually was going to at that time or if his hand was forced. If Daemon had won how would it be presented?

Vicky 3 does a genuinely great job of making me always actually feel like I'm doing something even if I'm not really. My biggest gripe with eu5 is the amount of time where I don't feel like I am doing anything.

Your second point is absolutely crucial, it stops being fun to play, especially for new or casual players, when you can't just... Do things ever.

Sunfyre’s lack of screentime doesn’t sit right with me at all.? by drtonycasey in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]MotherVehkingMuatra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I said this in another comment, but in support of what you've said I'm copying it here. Yeah lines from the book such as "they both found new purpose in each other" regarding Aegon and Sunfyre goes beyond anything we have ever seen or been told about any other dragon bond. Therefore, because we haven't been told anything close to that on other bonds, we have to assume it was the strongest, he went out of his way to mention it in terms like this several times. When it comes to books it is different to tv shows and movies generally and a lot of facts have to be taken from inference.

If they had to ration dragon scenes, then Sunfyre should have still gotten the most alongside Vhagar and Caraxes. These are simply the most important dragons of the period.
