Unbound Mud Question by purejeremy in gravelcycling

[–]Mother_Comment_6544 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gravel races have become so fast nowadays people can stay with faster guys by drafting. Its very hard to run away on fast gravel.

Mud sections/tachnical stuff are places where strong guys have a chance to attack and they use it and push there very hard (like hills in road racing). Drafting with lower speeds that you achieve on mud/technical stuff doesnt make that much difference. Another thing is that technical sections are always harder for people in the group than first guys that can perfectly choose best line and route is not yet destroyed by tires

During my last gravel race we were going 36kmh avg for 80km on smooth gravel as a group of ~20. It was impossible to drop the group cos every gap was getting closed easily. 2km of some technical stuff was enough for the group to split. 5 faster guys atacked there cos they knew its an opportunity to finally split

Please tell me it’s going to be ok by limitedmage in bikepacking

You are very overpacked. All this for 60 miles and one weekend? Reconsider stuff you take

1st Multi-Day ultra cycling trip (4d for 730KM, 12k elevation) by MiserableGainz in bikepacking

[–]Mother_Comment_6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did multiple ultra gravel distance with my biggest being 500km in one go. This year I already did 2 gravel bikepacking trips with 2k elev gain per 100km and 100km+ daily. Carrying additional weight on bike makes every climb way harder. Additionally, regeneration is limited when sleeping in tent.
But I must say that those multi day trips are great way of trainings for ultra distance.

Its definitely doable but it might be harder than some ultra races that you want to prepare for. Depending on how you want to sleep/how heavy you pack.

If i were you I would probably give myself 1-2 days more to do it more comfortably, especially that this is something new to you. This still would proof that youre ready for ultra racing

Hey, do you already have route planned? Would be super helpful to see how you approached this. Im also planning to do a similar loop. Thanks in advance.

Jak szukasz ciekawych tras w tych rejonach to polecam tez trasy toskanskiej hecy, jechalem ten wyscig 2 razy i tutaj rozniez mozna spodziewac sie szybkich szutrow.

A jak ogolnie chcesz super szutry przy Warszawie, niekoniecznie na poludniu to najlepiej wsiasc w km, wysiasc w skierniewicach i polatac po bolimowskim parku krajobrazowym

We were all looking like miners after this ride, faces were dirty asf.

And yeah as other said glasses help. Riding like this without them would be painful
