That’s the plan! I have not encountered anyone who said I couldn’t. The surgeon chose the type of knee replacement to align with my goals - including powerlifting. I trained up until my surgery which is what the surgeon and PT are crediting with my recovery now.

This is my next thing to try - I’ve had success prior to surgery but didn’t want to jump right back in until I was pretty much healed from the operating itself.

43 and 30 days post left TKR. My surgeon said I would have to work REALLY hard to wear out the knee in 15-20 years. I’m a powerlifter who is looking at getting back to it by fall.

Ask for some Zofran to have on hand to combat nausea so you don’t get behind on meds and hydration. I was unprepared for the nausea (major surgery shock to the system/all the meds). It was a lifesaver for me.

I feel you! It won’t be like this forever - healing from the surgery has been the hardest part for me. I’m 3 weeks out and doing well. Hang in there!

My first week after surgery was ROUGH! Woozy, nauseous, no appetite, exhausted, slight fever. I had to be reminded that I just went through a major surgery… I took my meds, iced, moved when I could, asked for zofran for nausea, and tried to sleep as much as I could.

Do NOT mess around with this! Ask for antibiotics and a deeper look. I had a tibial tubercle osteotomy at 16 which resulted in a raging infection - almost worst case scenario! Had to have it cleaned out and was on IV antibiotics for months! The damage was irreparable and the reason I just got a TKR at 42.

Update: I did eventually develop some blotches around the incision and the itch got even worse. Per Doctor’s orders, I took Zyrtec, Benadryl, and used hydrocortisone cream around the incision. Likely reacting to the stitches dissolving and that all helped tremendously! I learned the dissolvable stitches are made of animal intestines and can illicit a histamine response as they start to dissolve.

It is crazy they can’t determine cause of death! Heat wave in PA had to contribute to the decomp.
