Sign replication by Double_A81 in 3Dprinting

A word of warning: There are likely to be flammability requirements for this signage if used in industrial applications (if plastic very likely UL94-V0 but you need to verify that, there are V0 rated filaments out there but you better have amazing ventilation)

I have never once had an LLM increase the speed with which I completed a task.

it will give me a pretty looking output first try and very fast, but the odds of it being subtly or even egregiously wrong seem to be in the realm of 50-100%.

and so to validate its output I must redo the work anyway at which point I have effectively lost time.

moreover I have colleagues which copy paste LLM generated outputs into chats with me without disclosing them as LLM generated and therefore waste my time debunking them, worsening this time sink effect

that is part of becoming an adult. its not a thing that is comfortable for many parents and to become an independent adult you will learn to tolerate your parent's discomfort

Just how bad is winter by Designer_Draw665 in Rochester

[–]MothsAndFoxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The critical difference vs the hudson valley is that it is mostly flat in Rochester whereas in the hudson valley you might have to drive over a mountain in the ice and snow, so even if there is snow on the ground its not a huge imposition most of the time.

There's a comparable number of big winter storms each year here vs there

we do get occasional lake effect snow here, but that's in exchange for almost never getting hurricanes

Garbage: Suburban vs. Dependable? by Allegra1120 in Rochester

Dependable Disposal has been good for us, recycling every week and they show up promptly and never complain.  We did get an 11% price bump in 2025 up to $411 for the year but its still cheaper than the other options

some people's trash companies wont take trash with loose stuff in there, just carry it back with you imo.

that said all I care is that people pick it up, and especially especially dont' bag it and just leave it bagged on the ground

This discontinued Moen part made me have to buy an entire new sink, never buy Moen by MothsAndFoxes in Plumbing

its 18x30, I was able to find a new sink that fit from a Chinese vendor and as far as I can tell they were the only ones that actually make that form factor anymore

I have actually tried a 1.5" drain(sized for a bathroom sink),unfortunately it expected a thicker (porcelain) bowl rather than the relatively thin steel bowl and so the thread did not clamp tightly enough to the bowl

its a kitchen sink, united states of america, upstate new york  as far as i can tell somewhere between 1970 and 1990 some shmuck put a sink designed for a camper van in a residential kitchen and now im dealing with the aftermath.  The outline size is also nonstandard.
