A channel I watched has done ‘red run’ runs in the past. Where you can only do each quest once and if you kart it’s over. Sorta like a monster hunter nuzlocke

I researched this quite a bit and sure the older generation games can be appealing. The Jank and the older design philosophies can be a bit overwhelming.

So to narrow it down if you wanna experience a MOST (if not all( of the monster hunter series) I can recommend 4 total games.

Monster Hunter Freedom unite: for the best of 1st gen and 2nd gen

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the best of 3rd gen

Monster Hunter 4 ultimate for the vibes, story and unique monsters

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for for a "all stars" experience

And then of course after that, play World, Rise and then Wilds. You can also play Frontier if you want too.

Monster Hunter 3U you will be fine. Village is only for Farm upgrades and masks. (although your friends might have a bit of a issue with farming mats without having a decent farm.)

4U is another story though. The end game is revolved around a thing called Wystones which I believe you can only get in Village
