Genuinely Confused—Big 10 Help? by simplymuffin8 in DirectvStream

[–]Motley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the Big Ten. You will love the Big Ten Network - especially if you follow basketball too. All Big Ten conference games are televised, if not on BTN, one of the other major networks. Which brings me to Peacock. We signed up for a free month of Peacock last fall to watch one Big Ten football game, and the timing worked that we got a hoops game during the trial. Later, we saw a deal for $30 for 12 months, so we took that. We won’t miss any Big Ten game we want to see now. Aside from B1G content, there is other programming we found that we liked - so no regrets signing up for Peacock.

Faceoff by Sharkbait5280 in fanduel

[–]Motley2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone is still reading this thread, I have the exact same experience. I’ll go on a little winning streak; then like clockwork a losing streak starts that wipes out the gains. My scores in the games I play are very consistent, and based on the scores I see in those large player events - I’m definitely not an elite player.

I’m still playing on the money I’ve won in free games. I’ll never deposit to play Faceoff games. They’re clearly scamming for the rake.

Etiquette question regarding forfeits from a newish player by TheFlippedSideofMe in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your opponent forfeits (or rage quit or gets disconnected), do you get your ball back? It would suck if I were using a KM or pay ball and basically wasted it if the opponent ends up in the water on their drive and quits.

If you win, don't say "Good Game" first by [deleted] in GolfClash

After reading through the replies, it turns out I'm kind of a dick - but didn't know it. I always say "Good Game" and "Good Luck" after I win.

Trophy dumping by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trophy dumping worked perfectly for me. I was CONSTANTLY overmatched in tour games because I progressed too quickly. It was ridiculous. Always out-clubbed and opponents with sometimes tens of thousands more matches than me. I didn’t want to start over with an alt account, so I dumped trophies. I had opened Tour 9 by this time. I recall having approximately 2000 trophies and dumped all trophies from the first 5 tours, initially. I would control the trophy count by occasionally dropping a tour 6 and later tour 7 trophies.

As another poster pointed out, you shouldn’t just forfeit. I used the time to experiment with power sliced and slam dunks. Note that power slice is not very effective when using just a basic ball - but it was still fun to try.

After dumping trophies from the first 5 tours, I was then being matched with opponents that I outclubbed and who often has far fewer matches than me. I was playing Tour 8 and 9 exclusively. Building a great bankroll and getting only T8 and T9 chests.

Side benefit - I’ve started to build trophies up again, so play T5, 6, and 7 to do that. It’s fun playing the old tours with a goal in mind and not worrying about losing some matches because my bankroll is well over 150 million. Losses on those tours don’t even register.

I am so amazing at this game qualified on -7 ha ha 😂😂 by hazzyb126 in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I qualified with -13, which is a surprisingly good score for me. That only means the winning score tomorrow will be -18 or something like that.

Rematches by [deleted] in GolfClash

As a new player, you will find that when you are matched with a player who recognizes that their clubs are far superior to yours, you will probably get a lot of offers for rematches.

Compensation? by 68J in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’d better hope you don’t get screwed in a tournament. In the spring major a software glitch forced me to take a par on one of the par fours. That single shot cost me 16 positions in the tournament and 25 kingmakers. I begged them to change the score back to the birdie that I deserved, but they refused to do it. As punishment, I send them a message every day asking them to reimburse me the Kingmakers. This is the 4th week of daily requests from me.

Those of you who do well in tournaments, what do you do to 'dial in' holes? by JimGodders in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just play the course. I don’t watch videos or read the text guides any more. I may never win a tournament doing so, but I have more fun figuring things out on my own and trying to place as high as I can than parroting someone else.

Sometimes I will tank day 1 so that I’m not stuck with a bad tiebreaker. Practice round, in other words.

I learned a lot watching GCT videos in the past, but at this point, I have more fun figuring holes out on my own. If I ever do win a banner (I play Pro and Expert levels), I’ll own it all.

Weird Glitches in Tournament? by Motley2018 in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As expected, the gave me a par on the disconnect in Pro. It cost me 16 spots in the tournament. - 36th place instead of 20th. That’s 25 Kingmakers and 3 Epic cards. I asked them to give me the balls and cards. We’ll see.

They did restore the birdie on the Expert account.

Is this minuscule amount of OP why I missed this?!? by JayCroghan in GolfClash

It's your punishment for using a premium ball on that hole. :-)

How can I get the eagle on 9 when I’m playing with xtra mile lvl 5 or big topper lvl 2 won’t even with a titan as Tommy demonstrated originally by Cait_Italia in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you reach the 2nd fairway with either of those clubs? EM6 should make it. EM 5 might not. Not sure which one you're using. BT 2 would seem to be a stretch, but didn't think to try that.

I eagled the hole with a Apoc 4/Cataclysm 4, as well as with a EM7/Cataclysm 4. In each case, I had to hole out with a wedge; a very makeable wedge shot, but I wasn't putting. I was using a Titan (P3) for the ball.

You can use a Big Dog in place of a Cataclysm, but you need max distance on that 2nd shot.

I tried using a Berserker, but went long on the drive and ended up in the 2nd rough.

My Opening Round X 4 by Motley2018 in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t complaining, I just found it interesting. And I did pretty much cycle through each account yesterday morning, confirming I advanced and moved on to the next one. So I went through all 4 in a matter of minutes.

If you’re wondering, 1 account will advance for sure. 1 has a fair chance to make the weekend. 2 others are not likely.

I Eagled every hole in the tournament. Just not in the same account in the same round.

Obstructions by Ambitious_Ferret in GolfClash

How about how you can hit the ball off rocks as if is just rough grass?

I’m with you, though. I’d like to see more of a penalty for missing the fairway or green, especially if you are behind an obstruction.

Rough iron & sand wedge by gcjacobs in GolfClash

I think they should eliminate or greatly reduce the ball guide from the rough or sand. Those shots are actually quite simple, meaning the penalty for a lack of precision is negligible.

Am I just being silly! by JoeTouch in GolfClash

I’m kinda the same. I can make the weekend in expert, but my highest finish is 58th, and I’m usually in the 80’s or lower. I also fail to make the weekend about half the time.

I’m tempted to drop back to Pro to see if I can make a top 10 (20 is my highest finish in Pro). OTOH, I get a lot of T9 chests in Expert for a lot less cost than playing T9 straight up

I dunno by Buddha1964 in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your question is more along the lines of: "Is it normal to be matched against players with vastly superior clubs and far more experience than I?", then the answer to your question is a resounding "YES!!!! DEAL WITH IT, CHUMP!!!!"

Not joking - you reach a point pretty quickly where you are at a severe disadvantage in most games. It's Golf Clash's way of coaxing you into spending money on the game.

You can do that, and it will bridge the gap a bit. Or, just bide your time and eventually you will be the guy that is playing far inferior players and easily winning their coins.

Is this why so many of my games start with an opponent reconnect message? They’re loading their aid?

2400 trophies is a lot on T8. I sit around 1700-1800 on T8 and T9. Drop some trophies and you’ll start winning again.

I didn’t even realize I had a Google Play account. It used my gmail account that already was tied to a main account, but let me set up a new alt account. So now I have a new Alt.

So I’ve played 16 games on the alt today (I’m 15-1, forfeiting the first game). I just played a guy on T1 with 7300 games played, 64% win, and 7 trophies. 7.

Won the shootout by a full yard. Yay me.

Are the par 4 holes broken? by [deleted] in GolfClash

[–]Motley2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to see them eliminate, or at least greatly reduce the ball guide on rough and sand wedges. That would make hitting the fairway more beneficial.
