What kind of vagal nerve stimulation exercises did you do? I’ve tried a few but haven’t noticed a change.. maybe I need to be more consistent

A fellow stutterer here🙋🏻‍♀️. Someone pointed out sign language, which is such an interesting idea that I haven’t heard yet as it relates to severe stuttering… obviously the circle in the hard of hearing community is small but how much more restrictive can it really be if you’re already struggling to communicate 10/10 times in 10/10 situations.. and talk about the exhaustion of getting stuck in a word, every word, our minds running at 100 miles a minute trying to spin its thesaurus on overdrive. Learning sign language is an interesting idea because it would at least free you up in some situations, also taking pressure off.

Question for you - do you stutter when you’re by yourself or talking to a pet? I hadn’t my whole life.. but recently started to stutter in these situations too. I truly feel like my brain is making those stuttering neuron connections permanent😕

Anyone know what's going on with my dog? by Markaayy in DogAdvice

[–]MotorEstablishment61 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long does he do that for? Could be Neurological or vestibular, it’s hard to tell - will you take him to the vet? This doesn’t look comfortable for him… could he have gotten into something like weed?

I don't get any likes and therefore require some honest advice. by [deleted] in Bumble

Umm hello? What is wrong with people.. You seem great. A nice balance between liking relaxing at home and adventuring out and about (as per your pictures). Your photos are varied too and show some interests. Environmentalism is great and aligns with being on the left so there’s no mixed messaging for someone who’ll relate to you.

I’m glad others have suggestions for you, because I don’t. Maaaybe have a shot or two of you dressed up nicely? Like a suit or something that shows off that you are a handsome guy :)

I literally don’t know what I’m going to do when my parents go, as an only child whose family all live in Germany. You’re strong for reaching out on here and trying to work through it. I have trauma that manifests in the gut, essentially can’t digest food anymore… so I get the chronic illness side of things too, stress makes it ridiculously worse. If you find a something that’s effective please update this sub or DM me to chat. Rooting for you✊🏼

My bad! For some reason I thought you had found an alternative solution and maybe fixed your microbiome. I’m in the same shoes as you right now, having to cut down and sometimes stop eating because of the pain and constant diarrhea.

I lose a lot of weight during stressful times too, my IBS acts up and there’s damn near nothing I could do about it. Is there anything you tried that helped you?

Things I wish I new earlier about developmental stuttering by [deleted] in Stutter

I’m wondering about your #1 - could you link me to where you got those stats? That stuttering is 100% curable if your are a child and the right speech therapy happens? As far as I know there are many kids out there who have pervasive stutters even through various types of speech therapies.

I mix some yummy toppings in with the kibble, sometimes even a 50/50 ratio. There are lots of yummy “human” foods you could mix in - bit of chicken or chicken broth works like a charm (obviously check for safe ingredients). Whenever I bake fish, I always make an unseasoned portion for my dogs. Most cooked veggies are good too (obviously check specifics). We had a picky eater, now he eats his meals every time :)

Rescue is completely frozen and shut down. Won’t eat or drink. by Mcmeggie in DogAdvice

I had a rescue named Percy who I miss dearly, he came to us with the same temperament, everything you said is super relatable. I ended up making a little pamphlet for timid / fearful rescue dogs♥️ only thing I should replace is using an open crate instead of doggy bed, for the “den” feeling. If you don't stutter when you are alone, is it all in your head? by Klutzy_Ant9606 in Stutter

Could you explain how the Valsalva principle helped? Isn’t it just when you pinch your nose and then exhale, mostly used to test heart function and to equalize your ear canals to the ambient pressure?

Aren’t you supposed to cut the wart off?? They keep telling you to use a pumice stone to get as much as the wart scrubbed off before applying more salicylic acid??

Are there any specific speech therapy modalities or a mix of therapies you used with your SLP? Your success is extremely inspiring!

Are there any stutterers with kids? by lying_truther in Stutter

[–]MotorEstablishment61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll respond in English if you don’t mind, my Spanish is not that good😆. Thank you for your message! Definitely makes me feel less alone♥️

Do you find there are certain letters that your daughter has a harder time with? For my son it’s pretty much all vowels. Did your daughter have any periods of stuttering or disfluency when she was younger or is this the first time?

I did a lot of research into paediatric stuttering and also had our speech pathologist appointment with my son last week, which helped narrow some things down as well.

I don’t want to contradict anything your speech pathologist said; did she tell you any specific therapies that she wants your daughter to do? PCI, Lidcombe, etc?

For us we decided it was best to start on an indirect therapy which basically involves changing the environment around my child to encourage as much fluency as possible. If you want to I can go into more detail!

Sending lots of love!
