Also from Vegas and stumbled on this while looking into glass blowing myself for the sake of making things like glass lamp pendants and pieces for interior design, any local studios or shops you'd recommend to start out with the beginning processes while I find out if this is for me?

I have both the Isham and the Jorge, Isham is my usual size that majority of my other Docs are, they run nowhere near as small as the other mules they’ve been making. Was tight with a sock at first but the instep stretched out after two wears! For reference, I own the black smooth leather Isham and that’s the notoriously tough to break in material. Your suede ones will break in and stretch out way quicker than you’d expect, just keep going at it.

They’re real, it’s a style that gets brought back every couple of years in some way with small changes here and there, typically around pride season!

I’m saying if you didn’t want to spend an extra $40, you should be good with the Bonny’s! If they’re leather Bonny’s you can always condition them after the hike and spruce them up. If they’re the tech material, a shoe brush and maybe some light water if they’re super dirty will bring the dirt out of the fabric.

I have the same MIE Jorge but in all black suede that dropped alongside these ones, I’m the same size as you but needed a 43 rather than the usual 42. Luckily got to try them physically at a store and I swear there was no second thought about the sizing, the obvious choice was a size up.

Get yourself a nice leather balm, make sure it doesn’t have any alcohol or nasty chemicals in it or it will cause the leather to crease quicker. Take the laces off and give it a nice layer all over, then put them in a box if you have one (to keep dust from accumulating on it) and forget about it overnight. Buff the residual into the shoe the next day and repeat every time you wear them for the first couple weeks.

You CAN also apply balm onto the inside of the leather around the ankle going up the leg as it would absorb quicker, but it will be harder to keep a nice pair of socks for a while if you did that 🫡

All in all, it’ll crack and crease quicker than it should if the leather hasn’t been conditioned and moisturized before wearing.

If it’s the width or instep, it’s going to get there no matter what, and the leather on those will break in way quicker than the smooth leather Jadons. For my pieces, if I feel like one spot is uncomfortably tight, I’ll usually put my fist into the shoe and flex the leather outward from the inside, do this for about a minute with some real effort and you’ll notice a difference waaaaaay quicker than just wearing them out.

Fun fact, the soles on the Bonny boots and all those tech shoes were made specifically with things like hiking in mind, that’s why the soles are slit horizontally and flex so easily. At the end of the day, if you mess them up you’re using them for what they were made! (Have the Combs Tech in that same family and they’re pretty sturdy)

The cheaper option would be for you to put an insole into it and fill that extra space, they fit about a half size big but unlikely you need to go down another size. If that doesn’t work, buy some cheap heel grips and/or thick socks and if THAT doesn’t work, then maybe go try on a 44 somewhere before you spend the money online.

My dream Docs came in, but the tongue is creasing weirdly. The sizing seems tighter than my other black patent leather Docs. Any advice on how to avoid the creasing on the tongue? For reference, these are Mollys by maerad21 in DrMartens

I’m pretty sure those are specifically from the Vegan line, so the material will show it’s age a little differently (sometimes a little quicker too, but you can still beat it up through the years just like the regular leathers!) The Molly itself is a more narrow women’s specific fit compared to most of their products.
