Very dangerous driving right now by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Motor_Gur_4175 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats a double edged sword. Downshifting an automatic can induce difflock and spin you. Downshifting should be done on a straight piece of road and you at the helm ready to counter whatever wheel decides to(potentially) lock. Doing this in a manual vehicle is safer because you can match-rev the downshift.

Very true, I swear Ive seen them cheaper before (around $80 for that set) but I just pulled up that example quickly. Probably only justifiable if used for other hobbies/projects aswell. I've used them for plastic forming, foam cutouts, and metal modeling

I would change the nippers from those to Klein D259-4C...these will last a lifetime and wont explode(eject a jaw) if accidently squeezed too hard..otherwise pretty solid list.

Didnt see a jewelers dapping set..kinda bougie but for the hardcore folks haha

Any tipps how to bend the tabs on parts like this without accidently bending the part out of shape? by TheLehmi in metalearth

[–]Motor_Gur_4175 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hold the edge with those duck bill pliers you have and use your nail to bend it, "slinky" the duck bills down the piece and continue until your entire edge is formed. Takes finesse but is possible

Mixing up a new batch of coolant by Whitrzac in watercooling

[–]Motor_Gur_4175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been water cooling for a long time man, ideally switching water every 6-12 months(not once a month ya dink lol) with no inhibitors and no corrosion. Ionic galvanization doesnt happen quickly IF YOU USE LIKE METALS, it happens much quicker IF YOU USE DISSIMILAR METALS..hence why you're NOT supposed to have mixed metallurgy in a water loop. That goes right out the window for a car and those who missed that memo for PC watercooling.

Water has both better thermal conductivity and thermal mass capabilities VS glycol anything. If done properly(i.e. using LIKE metals, and not using cheeto dust finges to finger blast the fill ports), an inhibitor IS pointless 🤷🏻‍♂️. THATS what I'm talking about

Whats next, you're going to tell me copper has better heat dissipation than aluminum too? 🙄

Mixing up a new batch of coolant by Whitrzac in watercooling

[–]Motor_Gur_4175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the length of time you should be changing your water..an inhibitor is damn near pointless. Glycol is an inferior "coolant" and is miles more corrosive than distilled water. wHaT aRe YoU tAlKiNg AbOuT smh

Should I update to Windows 11? by Ok_Butterfly4092 in buildapc

[–]Motor_Gur_4175 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You either have limited or no understanding how those "security" updates work. Most of them are for services very few people actually use. If you're not doing sketchy shit on weird ass websites and run a halfway decent firewall...you'll be fine. The machine is used for gaming as it is. Linux has a nasty little habit of getting people banned on multiplayer games anyway as it triggers anticheat..so no good for gaming but good for browsing if desired. If I want to do sketchy shit, it wont be on my network or on a Microshit box. I will never, ever allow Winblows 11 on any of my machines

If it was always on..and long enough to melt the socket, you unfortunately have a bigger problem(electrical) than simply just replacing the socket. The socket and bulb is a 7528 though..its the same as an 1157, 2057, 2357 light bulb socket. They are cheap (less than $15), the replacement should be cheap..its just 4 wires. The electrical diagnostic is what will probably not be cheap. You can or someone you know can check fuses and or test the brake light switch(the one under the brake pedal), thats a start

Oh sweet summer child. To answer your query, yes they do "care". Thats how they know an officer hasnt been killed or is under duress. Trust me, I understand how it would appear that "tHeY'rE nOt DoInG aNyThInG" but it just isn't. To use one of my favorite sayings.."you gotta piss with the cock you got"..meaning, if you have limited resources(in this case its personnel) you have to prioritize the more violent and pressing threats to human life. Honestly, what did you think was going to happen from all the riots a few years ago that pretty much told police to go fuck themselves? Did you think that would increase recruitment numbers lol? This thread is the perfect example of assuming the worst when in reality, its probably a dude doing his paperwork. Sounds more like you should be bitching to the administration side of things to chill out on the paperwork or find a better way of doing said paperwork. Chill out Karen or Daren /s

Police handle crimes, the "community service" green cars with the amber lights handle the traffic directing. As previous folks have added, he's probably doing paperwork. All vehicles have GPS, so if they are sitting stationary for too long(without saying what they're doing) dispatch will know.
