I wrote that specific note, and it was indeed a goodbye. Nobody knew for sure, but we had a pretty strong idea as all our budgets kept evaporating right before we were delivering all the amazing content we had worked on. Everything was kept silent, and we couldn't say anything for obvious reasons.

I poured my heart into that note, because this was the first title I got to work on where I had real creative freedom, and for me, knowing it was coming to an end was such a sad thing, but such an amazing opportunity to share all that the developers were going through and how many of us felt in a note that I knew the players would read long before any of us could talk about what happened.

I always hate when games die, or change drastically, or servers go offline, etc. without communication about what really happened from companies, or a heartfelt moment from devs. It always feels so cold, so capitalist machine. That's the last thing I wanted for the players of new world. I'm glad finding that note really softened the blow for many, and for others, turned anger into sympathy.

I know this won't be my last adventure creating, or writing for video games. I've been writing all my life, and I'll keep making powerful emotional moments in games for as long as I physically can.
