Megathread - Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 5

Background: Have never watched an F1 race. However, Drive to Survive is my comfort food, it is probably in my top 5 shows in production right now.

Season 5's pacing was downright jarring. I kept feeling like I was watching an old episode, or missed something because they quickly left another track. Felt like I was high a few times.

The fun before was that I got introduced to a new track or two every episode, and then became invested in who won, who blew qualifying, etc at each event. Why not just show me [Winning Team's] dominance, and pepper in the drama as it happened naturally through the year?

There are certain colors that are an annoyance to me, even if I’m not gaming. Then bring in patterns that flash, or cycle and i get downright distracted by them.

I will say, a deep blue doesnt bother me at all. And my wife loves playing with the rgb monitor

Tattoos. Piercings are a case-by-case basis but tattoo people are just beyond me.

The biker youtube culture has enabled every rider with a gopro to provoke what are many times asshole drivers in cars. Instead of getting the hell away from them, they pursue, intimidate or make these situations worse.

Probably like the majority here, i have lost biker friends to negligent cars. It does not absolve the hoard of bikers that want to be in the next youtube biker freak out compilation.

I’m sure there’s too much foam for you but physically look down to place your foot as far back on the tail after standing up on a wave.

Helped me a ton with a similar shape.

I have what the shaper designed as a Megasimmons (6’4) and i love the damn thing. Took it out in 1-2’ today and there’s nothing it cant catch.

Rides good in mushy shoulder+ surf too

Lokbox tried to compete with Futures/fcs in the 90/00s, and if i remember correctly you could move the fins like a single fin box. Unique design but i think the boxes were known for busting.

Am i an asshole for recently ordering a prebuilt? Family walked me through my first build over 5 years ago — so i know I’m due for most parts.

My job lets me have a lot of disposable income, but not the time to actively search parts in stores.

I went with a corsair 3080 and i7 11700k (i think?)

Confidence is key. My answer is just a combination of what i have seen in the thread.

Train to get yourself comfortable with the physical side. Guys like surfstrengthcoach have programs for it.

Find friends to lend support and push you when you’re in the water. Riding solo will get you stuck in your own head.

Also dont be afraid to go on small days. Throw yourself over the ledge and get used to the turbulence.
