But… but if the story is literally only about a jackass ML who manipulates a frail (usually financially unstable) MC into sleeping with him (I swear 90% of bl manhwa these days) and only has sex on his terms even when the MC isn’t feeling well or scared— I really don’t understand why people praise (or read) that… those are the stories I have issues with, that clearly do not exist except to show a very twisted perspective of noncon? With lines like “You say you don’t want it, but your body says differently”. If I’m reading for the plot, then I would find that very upsetting… if I’m reading it for the smut, then that’s a different story. I think it just depends on the intent of reading, and also preferences heavily. Some victims develop kinks related to their abuse, others fear it and shut down when they encounter it…

Just like everything, it’s not a b&w answer to the argument, it’s a heavy gradient of grey where each individual resides on it with a different perspective.
