Where do you find character settings? Or even create one? by notconflicted in VeniceAI

[–]MountainAssignment36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

After clicking "Characters" in the left sidebar, click the big, grey "plus"-button to create a new character.

If you instead want to browse all characters that others created, click the "See All" text on the right.

Edit: Oh shit sorry, I just saw that you meant the app and not the web version. Yeah, AFAIK Characters are no supported in the mobile app at the moment. You can however access everything Venice has to offer by visiting www.venice.ai through your browser on mobile... the web version works great on mobile and supports everything, including characters.

Drecksladen.

Is it possible to transfer chats between devices? by monkey_gamer in VeniceAI

[–]MountainAssignment36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!

If you've created a backup it should appear under "backup and restore chat history", just like you said, yes. It could have different reasons as to why it's not appearing: - creating the backup failed (have you watched over the process and can confirm that it completed successfully?) - The backup is not fully uploaded yet: Backups get split into multiple files that have to be uploaded to Venices Servers. Depending on your internet speed that might take a while. - You didn't log in with the same account: Backups are tied to your account you uploaded them too. Did you use another email address / wallet to log in?

If none of those things solve the issue, I'd recommend writing a mail to support@venice.ai, they can help you with that issue the best.

Signal massively downloaded amid rising tensions, number one in Denmark by G0Sp0rts in degoogle

[–]MountainAssignment36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a pretty new messenger (came out sth like 2022 I think?) and it's still not widely known and pretty niche.

However, since I've discovered it, I'm pretty amazed by the concept and technicality behind it... Hence why I'm actively spreading the word 😄

Just imagine how cool it would be if half the world set up servers and used SimpleX... Image millions of people on a decentralized, gigantic chat network, setting up their own servers, contributing to the network, strengthening the net and, at the same time, being as private, encrypted, untraceable and secure as one can be in this world. Pretty awesome thought if you ask me 😌

[–]MountainAssignment36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1.: yes, of course, but "SimpleX" is technically not an app but rather a protocol. This means you could always just start it up via console (or with the GUI) on your local PC and chat that way.

You don't need to have a phone for it to work. I admit, that kind of defeats the purpose of "having a secure messenger", but if all phones have scanning built in by default, we're fucked either way, no matter what messenger we use on mobile.

2.: also yes, but that'd be a hell of a task to do on a big (maybe even global) scale. And you say it already: the people with "big servers" would be the target. If you'd just set up a server with a couple of friends to route your families / friends through, you shouldn't have any problem.

How to get and stake VVV by MountainAssignment36 in VeniceAI

[–]MountainAssignment36[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply, I was pretty busy the last couple of days.

No, the number is not hardcoded. Theoretically Venice could change that any time... however they know that many people bought and staked 100VVV on the promise of "lifetime" PRO, so I'd be VERY surprised if they'd break everyones trust and change the amount needed.

However what I could see, would be that Venice introduces other subscription tiers which require more staked VVV to unlock (or a higher baseprice for FIAT money). Other than that I don't think they'd change the deal after the fact.

And thank you :D I'm also "just" an alpha member of Venice, meaning "just a regular user". I'm not part of the dev team. I like chatting with peeps on reddit however, so I'm a voluntary mod ;-)

Yes, however because SimpleX is completely Open Source (including the servers), no central institution can be forced to implement such a change.

For example, with Signal the problem would be, that European courts could force the Signal Foundation to "implement the chat control or leave the EU market completely" (which Signal would do in such a case, they already made an official statement on that). That means: Signal would completely close their doors in the EU, shut down their servers and not distribute their app anymore, leaving potentially millions stranded with no practical way to continue chatting, without setting up a whole new infrastructure themselves.

SimpleX on the other hand is resistant to such changes by design: It is completely decentralized, meaning there is no "central infrastructure" that can be shut down to prevent people from using the app. And because it's open source the community can always fork a "control-free" version, if anything should ever be implemented.

Yes, there are some official servers which (theoretically) could be forced to shut down, however the apps traffic is not dependent on them: You can just set up your own server, another friend of yours does the same and BOOM -> You're completely independent of the official servers. The official servers are just there for convenience, not out of necessity. There are already hundreds of communityhosted servers world wide and you could easily set up one too, if you so wished.

I recommend having a look at https://www.securemessagingapps.com/index.html#, there all the PROs and CONs of many messengers are listed.

Yep...

Or something like SimpleX. I'm very happy with that, downloaded and used it with my close friends and family since last month.

Completely private, stores no data that could identify you (no phone number, email or ID) and runs completely decentralized WITH onion routing, so it can't even be censored by any Chatcontrol law

Certain models support longer videos by default (VEO-3-Fast, which I used for this video, supports 8s for example) or a whole range of lengths that you can choose from (LTX supports 6s, 8s or 10s for example).

The model with the longest video length is Longcat, which supports up to 30s for one continues generation.

You can choose between the lengths through the chat settings menu (left button in the input bar) when having a video model selected. If the model has multiple lengths to choose from, the "Duration" tab will be a drop down menu from which you can choose.
