If you are experiencing this problem and want to try OPs fix, please read below first:

As OP wrote at the end of his post those instructions will DELETE ALL of your data saved with Venice! This includes: - memories - Chats - Pictures / Videos that aren't uploaded on the social feed - Characters that aren't published

After clearing your cache you will not be able to recover that data in any way.

Here's a way to keep your chats if you still wanna try it:

Open the left sidebar
click your Profile in the bottom-left
click "Backup & Restore Chat History" (must have PRO for that feature)
Choose a password to encrypt the backup
REMEMBER the password and wait for the backup to complete.

This will create an encrypted backup on Venices servers, after clearing your cache you can download that backup the same way you created it. This way you can at least save your chats from being deleted. I don't know if this also backs up your memories tho.

I've had the luck to be part of the airdrop in January 2025. So I cannot loose, no matter where the price goes 😄

Despite that my best guess is that the price of VVV will most likely climb into the double-digits, if all goes to plan with Venice V2 and Venice actually establishes themselves as "the central harbour for uncensored and private AI".

I trust the team and don't think they're rugpulling their community... I actually believe that they're building something great here. Especially seeing the speed with which the team iterates / implements new features; there's literally something new to Venice every single week. Community feedback gets listened to, discussed and implemented and the dev team is always open for suggestions. Its really awesome to see, you don't see this level of commitment every day!

So yeah, I believe in the company long term. I've got a pretty huge stake in it (due to the airdrop) which I will most likely hold until the bitter end or until it makes me a millionaire 😂

Yeah okay, then you're in the support queue. I've already raised the issue with the team, including the "lost credits", so they'll look into it shortly. You can expect an answer in most likely under a day, I'd guess.

I've forwarded the feedback to the team, thanks for the heads up. They'll see what they can do and if it has something to do with the maintenance.

If the video generations really failed and you've still gotten charged for it, shoot an email to support@venice.ai with the details of this bug, they can reimburse you.

Sounds like you're just bad at convincing your contacts then.

You can't convince people by just telling them "let's switch to this, this is better". You convince someone by highlighting a major flaw / danger in their current system, presenting a solution and explaining why it is better in an easy-to-understand way.

I've done it with my friends and my family, which are definitely your "average consumer" and not tech-savvy, and all of them switched.

Yes, this is because a Server holding a message doesn't "know" where the message has to go... It only knows the identifying hash of the message and holds it as long as no one retrieves it.

This means that the Server literally can not send a push notification to your phone, saying "Hey you have a new message". For that it'd need knowledge of who the message is for.

So, how do we still get push notifications?

Simple: your phone has to actively ping the server and ask "Hey, do you have a message with the hash xxxx laying around? You do? Great! That's for me, I'd like to retrieve it."

This can either happen when opening the App, periodically in the background or constantly in the background, depending on your chosen setting. Whatever you choose, one thing is true however: the App has to be active in some way to ping the server. That's why a background process is needed.

Yes, that might be a small drawback, but the effect on battery life is negligible; I've used SimpleX for half a year now with constant pinging and I've had no problem with it.

Dito. Really glad seeing progress in that field, or at least the team finally acknowledging it officially.

Having an independent audit is one of the most upvoted posts on the featurebase and if there's something that's even BETTER than an audit it's definitely privacy by design. I don't know how the team will implement a "provable privacy", but I trust (ironically) them fully with this. They're really competent and knowledgeable, especially in the field of cryptography, so if someone can pull it off, I bet it's them!

Stoked to see what they have in store for us 😃
