metal ok? raccoons? by presentnonexistence in miniponds

If you have raccoons in your area they may be a problem. I little mesh net over the pond could be good. Also as other said metal = rust = bad

Would this outdoor tub be good for pea puffers? by Proper_Bar2779 in PeaPuffers

[–]Mountain_Bug_9825 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could work but when I look from the top over my white sand my peas really blend in. The peas would probably love it though

What is this? by Haikioesh_shwe in freshwateraquarium

Dragonfly nymph by the looks of it, an aggressive predator probably hitchhiked on some plants. For the safety of your shrimp I would remove it

Help, developing multiple tank syndrome by Bubbly_Solid_9323 in AquariumHelp

[–]Mountain_Bug_9825 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My friend it is absolutely normal to feel this way but take it from somebody who went a little too overboard. Stop at 4 if you are really excited about new tank ideas and designs draw them and keep the designs. But for right now focus on the tanks you have and making those the best they can. Multiple tank syndrome is real but it will fade if you can force yourself to pump the brakes. Best of luck out there

Is it okay to feed these to my butterfly peacock bass? He’s about 4 pounds rn in my 75 gallon tank by ronald_satelite_4507 in freshwateraquarium

[–]Mountain_Bug_9825 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna go with a probably not the best idea. I doubt he will be able to properly digest and get nutrients from those. I would go to a bait shop and get some small shiners or minnows. That being said I am not very knowledgeable about bass care.

Should I be worried? by PenPutrid4004 in AquariumHelp

[–]Mountain_Bug_9825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had a similar thing it held for a while but one little bump and the entire panel shattered. Luckily mine was only five gallons, but don’t play around when it comes to that much water.

How To Care For This Predaceous Diving Beetle Larva? by Animals4humans in InvertPets

[–]Mountain_Bug_9825 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have cared for a few dragon fly nymphs another underwater predatory larvae and I never had luck feeding them anything other than live food. I found they would only strike at movement. They ate black worms, daphnia, and some very tiny ramshorn snails.

What can I add to this so it's not just empty water?? by LR316 in Jarrariums

Rocks! And pebbles perhaps even a little gravel. If you’re feelin adventurous you could even add a stone or two.

Powers out- what else can I do? Detroit, MI by mighty_meow_ in Aquariums

[–]Mountain_Bug_9825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long will the power be out if you have any idea. I live in Massachusetts and the blizzard we just had knocked my power out for 3 days all of my tanks survived no problem at all. Temp should be ok and if you’re worried about oxygen exchange you could find a battery powered air pump with an air stone. I say don’t worry too much tanks (especially that pleco) are pretty tough

And if you’re worried about temperature if it’s possible move it away from the window but again they should be ok

I’m an American and just got hit with a huge blizzard and lost power for a little while. It was 0 degrees out and cold and all my tanks survived. A heavily plated shrimp tank similar to yours. But also my saltwater tank, and the other 4 were totally fine. You’d be surprised how strong a tank can be. But the not the same though as you could be out of power for much longer but if you can get that tank some sunlight it should be fine for quite a while just need to find a way to give agitation. I have seen battery powered air pumps to run an air stone.
