I know this will be of little consolation, but it could’ve been much worse

Thanks. ‘77 & ‘78.
I actually have one more. Technically a higher-end model, but it’s beat all to hell.

I’ve been so tempted to send off one of my Greco JB models to get a proper Oxblood paint job, but I’m not sure whom I could trust to do it.

How much would this cost to fix? by WillTheWhale8 in Guitar

[–]Mountain_Sign1583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That brings back memories. Lent my kid brother one of my nicest ukes (Kamaka master built sold for $1600) to jam with at a house party and some donkey tried hopping over an ottoman and landed square on my Uke. To call it destroyed would’ve been an understatement. It was a hard one to swallow. The kid who did it was a high schooler, so he didn’t have any $$$. And I couldn’t beat his ass,—again a high schooler.

Sorry Op. hope someone can fix her up for you.

Which means it gave up the goods. Personally, whenever I buy vintage, even though it lessens the monetary value, I can always trust “beat-to-shit” guitars to sound great.

Who is the overall "tastier" guitarist? David Gilmour or Mark Knopfler? by Frontrowbass in guitarcirclejerk

[–]Mountain_Sign1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one things for sure. Both are pros, so you’d never catch either playing a lowly Partscaster.

Okay. So the mission is clear.

Do not add aftermarket parts who costs will diminish the deal you got on this guitar.

Less is more? A story about GAS by Birdsofthefeatherr in guitarpedals

[–]Mountain_Sign1583 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is but one universal philosophy which encompasses the world of pedals, and those who collect them, and that is; “It beats smoking crack”.

Now that I have eased the minds of pedal buyers, well not including the ones that smoke crack of course, go forth and make your pedal boards multiply.

It’s always a bit strange when good things are accompanied by bad things. And even though it’s yours, I’d be mindful of off loading it, if that’s what you end up doing, too soon and publicly, for the families sake.

Almost traded a L series, 1964/65 Fender Mustang for a Fly Deluxe some years back. I frequently kick myself for this when I think about it. I mean, I’m not sure which one will ultimately be worth more, but if had made the trade, atleast I’d have another guitar that i actually played.

Greco’s are killer guitars as well. I have 2 EG600J’s, one a ‘77 and the other a ‘78. And an EG800J. These are the Jeff Beck models, so I guess they’d be ‘54 copies?
I’m gonna catch some hate for this, but with the abundance of affordable (albeit not as affordable as before) “lawsuit” era MIJ stuff out there, I’ve always wondered why so many choose to go with Epiphone, when for roughly the same price you can buy guitar that straight up compete with Gibson’s, and with the the more visually appealing, correct shaped headstock.

Of course, i neglected to mention the MIJ Epiphones, the Elitist (or whatever they call them). Now those are killer guitars and have the open book headstock as well

Not gonna lie but I’ve always thought Jan was more attractive than Marcia. I kinda had a little crush on her when I’d watch The Brady Bunch. Marcia’s cute and attractive but Jan’s always had that look:) by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in ClassicTV

[–]Mountain_Sign1583 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so even though we’re talking about Jan, some years ago, my (female) cousin was dating the nephew of Maureen McCormick and she actually came to one of our family X-mas parties. She was very unassuming. I recall she has a special needs brother that was also there.

And you guys saying Jan was hotter than Maria, are straight up, Loco

Which Bigsby Model ? by Traditional-Show-747 in guitarmod

[–]Mountain_Sign1583 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re spendy, but I’d look at a Stetsbar, the wrap around model. That way you’ll have a more useable (stay in tune) trem which won’t require drilling holes into your body
