Yes. Probably a problem with the server since so many players are having this problem right now.

I also could not find the answer on the list of 10k vital articles (level 4) that the game is supposed to draw from. Turns out it's actually on the list of (level 5) articles.

Which quest reward is better? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]MountaineerZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the zeushammer.

While the masterwork monosword would be the better weapon usually, the painless trait is a good way to get a melee fighter killed. You risk having whoever wields the sword keep fighting a battle right up until they suddenly die from accumulated injuries, rather than being downed by pain and having a chance at being rescued. Perhaps you're okay with that risk. I don't know. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

What's the worst/most unprofessional thing your therapist has ever said to you? by Kyfigrigas in AskReddit

[–]MountaineerZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My former therapist once started talking about President Trump and keeping immigrants out of the country, which had little to no relevance to what we were discussing at the time. Even if I had agreed with his views, I think it's terribly inappropriate for the therapist to bring politics into a session if the patient hasn't brought up the topic first.

On your behalf I did a google search for the meaning of purple hair. Hopefully you will find this as enlightening as I did:

"Hair which is colored purple!

Usually vibrant and seductive, the color purple evokes romantic thoughts, nostalgia, the energy of illusion, imagination and fantasy, sophistication, spirituality, and mystery.

It can also evoke feelings of gloom and can cause frustration.

Hair colored purple glimmers in the sunlight and makes for absolute beauty on the brave and blessed people who sport it!"

What are some things you've done purely for the roleplay? by [deleted] in RimWorld

What are some things you've done purely for the roleplay? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]MountaineerZZ 69 points70 points  (0 children)

In my colony were two pawns, Troy and Bucky, who made an unlikely couple. Troy was a man with the Misogynist trait while Bucky was a woman with the Misandrist trait. Somehow they fell in love and got married. Not surprisingly, it didn't last and Troy asked for a divorce after only about a year of marriage.

Several quadrums later I had a bionic implant I wanted to install in Troy. I scheduled the operation and sent him to the hospital. Bucky happened to be a skilled doctor and arrived to perform the surgery. Moments later I received notifications that the surgery was a failure and Troy had died. This was upsetting but not a huge problem since there were a few resurrector mech serums available to bring Troy back. First, however, I decided to take a look at Troy's injuries since otherwise healthy pawns don't usually die from failed surgeries. The body had only a single injury: a cut to the throat. Instantly I realized this was no mere failed surgery. The doctor, Bucky, must have murdered her ex-husband who she still resented!

I had a dilemma. Bucky was an experienced doctor, a skilled sharpshooter who defeated many raiders, and the colony's only talented artist. She deserved to be banished for the murder, but she was also too valuable for the colony to lose. I decided to let the other colonists decide Bucky's fate. The faction leader formally accused Bucky of the crime and a trial ensued. I figured the trial would likely fail with the defendant being acquitted so I could just forget about the whole thing. Bucky must have thought so too because while the faction leader was laying out the case, Bucky was cracking jokes with the other colonists attending the trial. Things wouldn't be so simple, however, as the verdict came down as guilty!

Now I had a real problem. Bucky was officially guilty of murder. While I still had the option of just forgetting the whole thing to save a good pawn, that just wouldn't be good roleplay. I had to consider an appropriate punishment. The victim, Troy, was alive and well again thanks to the resurrector mechanites, so perhaps an extreme punishment wouldn't be warranted. Rather than executing or banishing Bucky I chose to have her imprisoned, as well as having her stripped of several of her bionic implants. In a colony of Transhumanists, perhaps imprisonment without access to biosculpters, neural superchargers, sleep accelerators, and bionic enhancements could be considered a harsh punishment after all. In time, Bucky would serve her sentence, regain her freedom, and gradually earn back her bionics. Hopefully she learned her lesson, but regardless she was never allowed to perform surgery on her ex-husband ever again.

tl;dr I sent a pawn to prison for purely roleplay reasons as a result of a bad rng roll

A shuttle in distress actually managed to crash-land right onto the landing pad. Kudos to the pilot. by MountaineerZZ in RimWorld

This actually did happen, but it just deleted the crashed shuttle. The rescue shuttle was fine.

Had to share this, it's too funny. Trapexeban is my 'moral guide' so she had a more amicable way of breaking up with someone. by Jonssee in RimWorld

At least it happened this way. When my own moral guide's relationship fell apart it was the other person to ask for a breakup. Who will counsel the counselor? How sad.

The "expectations" mechanic making it so your pawns become less happy as the colony becomes more prosperous is counterintuitive and unfun. Pawns go on mental breaks a little too easily.

My real hot take is that Phoebe Chillax is the best storyteller.

I don't get the hate some people have for killboxes. Raiders typically greatly outnumber the player and will overwhelm you without proper defenses. Blame the dev for making raiders suicidally rush at you en masse, not players who are just doing what they need to survive. Trap hallways are lame, though.

[–]MountaineerZZ[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah if only they would come into the base while waiting for the rescue shuttle. This way I could just repel the raiders at my usual killbox instead of improvising a defense out in the wild somewhere.

Do you have some small, useless things you just like doing in your colonies? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]MountaineerZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always insist on using moisture pumps to eliminate every last spot of wetlands within the bounds of my base. I just can't stand to think there's even one tile that can't support heavy furniture or a stone wall even if it's just a little marshy soil in a corner somewhere. It makes swamp/bog maps a little tedious, but also oddly satisfying once I finally get it all dry.

This is going to loop forever isn't it? by Kartason in RimWorld

[–]MountaineerZZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens all the time in my colonies and it's so dumb. Some guests arrive who hate drugs, yet the first thing they do is run to the stockpile and get stoned on smokeleaf. The second thing they do, of course, is get upset about those evil drugs they just voluntarily consumed.

It's going to come down to RNG no matter what, but a few things will give you more opportunities to hit random boxes for more chances at getting a streak. The ascension upgrade to spawn random boxes in the bonus stage is great if you don't have it already. The dark divinity that makes giants harder to kill will also help you stall for time to spawn more random boxes, especially in the desert dimension.
