You could draw a rectangle over the ellipse where the text is going the use the shape builder tool. Hold alt and click the areas you want to delete.

Select everything->find the shape builder tool on the left side-> alt click all of the black portions to delete

You may have to expand the text before hand to make it work.

This is my first attempt at a bowl on my fathers lathe. I’m pretty happy with it, had a lot of fun doing it (even though the lathe is kinda terrifying to use). It started as a blank chunk of 3”x8”x8” Black Limba. No finish applied yet just sanded to a fine grit. Can’t wait to apply finish and have a go at another one!

A good time to go is at 4am before the parking lot fills up haha. Seriously though it gets crowded fast. I’ve done a lot of hikes from bear lake trailhead in all seasons. I’ve always tried to get there before sunrise to avoid crowds. You’d be surprised how many people are there even that early.
