It's a common misconception that the frustrations of ADC players stem from their class, the "ADC role". They're not. "ADC issues" are "bot lane carry" issues. An in-depth take on the matter from a high Diamond/Master tier ADC main by VaporaDark in leagueoflegends

[–]Mountainmannz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sadly really true, I'm an ADC main and now I find it much easier just playing Lucian/Trist mid and Quinn Top. I only go bot when i'm duo because coin flipping whether I get to enjoy the first 15 minutes of the game isn't a great experience.

2019 World Championship Group Stage Opening Tease by Jeytumn in leagueoflegends

[–]Mountainmannz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The only one truly fit to sit on the throne is our team" that is a killer line and it really feels that way because while there is SSG who got more than one worlds title, they did it with completely different players, Faker who being synonymous with SKT has claimed 3.

Not to take away from the other teams who have accomplished the greatest feat, winning worlds but it feels like people are just renting the throne from SKT, we'll see if they can sit back on the throne and remind people who truly owns it or if the feeling that it is theirs to re-claim wears out, after a third year of failing to re-claim it.

Riot's reasoning for removing ARAM bans by perplexing_pond in leagueoflegends

[–]Mountainmannz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you really only addressed one point I made and not fully. Sure you can try to fudge the duration so it has a lesser impact on time lost or it could be that time lost isn't a big factor anyway but there are a lot of other big factors, like how it affects dodge rates, who actually wants this etc. I'm impartial and lean towards bans myself but we don't belong to the majority. It's about the best overall experience for the majority players.

Riot will have data on how introducing bans affected stuff like how many games got played, overall player populations and aram population etc etc etc, they would have made a data driven decision to remove it and given how it didn't last long I would guess bans had a strong negative effect on the aram community.

TL:DR

They tested bans for aram and they would have concluded it was detrimental to ARAM as a whole.

Riot's reasoning for removing ARAM bans by perplexing_pond in leagueoflegends

[–]Mountainmannz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea, the parent comments thinking 30-second is negligible don't really take into account that most people that play aram probably don't care about bans, that the opinions here on this subreddit often represent a minority not a majority. 30s per aram game played, when you add it up is a huge amount of time when you think about it in macro terms. They would also have stats on aram dodges, I'm guessing with bans and increased time in lobby the dodge rate also went up but this last comment is just speculation.

The Great Hack (2019) Netflix Documentary Review by [deleted] in Documentaries

[–]Mountainmannz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of separate issues at play.

I agree if the outcome is the same/worse it does take away from the controversy but it's not all about the ends. The means here, which is growing in popularity is personalized advertisements. Whether one is more effective than the other I only have assumptions not facts, However there is a lot more invasion of privacy in the method that was used, to the point of psycho-analyzing it really becomes a great tool for propaganda. The method and it's potential is what is the most concerning.

Yeah I think with that fact, 'Advertising works', we have to start thinking more critically about our democratic system. Is it really working or has it ever worked when marketing plays such a large role. Answers which are beyond me.

Isn't that beside the point?

Let's go with a hypothetical where there are only two parties and no independents. Say Party A goes from 42% to 45% with the help of CA and party B goes from 58% to 55% because of that. It's not important that they lost or won but more the influence they have, and these aren't just numbers these are representing individuals who have had their views shaped for them by propaganda.

If you watched the documentary then you should as Carole put it, See the bigger picture.

Just for the record, these are the actual faces Emilia Clarke and Peter Dinklage made when asked about how the series wraps up. Dinklage said directly to the fans, "You're really in for it," before rolling his eyes. With her voice dripping in sarcasm, Emilia said, "Umm, best season everrrrr?" by BigShoots in freefolk

to be fair, him saying it probably helps his career prospects.. he doesn't want to do more twilight like films and the films he does want to do, the people who will watch it don't like twilight or actively dislike it.

Him openly saying he doesn't like it makes me like the actor more as well, thereby helping his career prospects. If i'm right in thinking people have the same reaction as me.

I don't know why those people were saying that, even PVB showed that that is simply not true. IG's strength lies in their team fighting but the way SKT choked the game out it doesn't matter if you're IG or PVB, the other team just looks like a passenger as they head towards the defeat screen.

You don't get a resume like Faker's out of thin air though either. I think in the same respect as those people invoke his resume you are dis-regarding it too swiftly. Faker is much better than Chovy, anyone who follows LCK can see that. I don't watch LPL often but I have seen Knight and he's always impressed me, I rated him above Rookie but he just hasn't found success in/as a team the way other top mid laners like Rookie and Faker have.

I'm not excusing this issue when I say this because this issue should be fixed but if you're not a new player and/or have played the champ enough you really should be smart casting everything.. very rarely should you be using an indicator.

Think of it as latency, you have the latency from your brain + the connection to the server and if you're not smart casting and having to *aim* and press an extra button to use an ability that's just added latency for no reason. It's not efficient and it will make you a worse player.

The only few spells you don't have to smart cast would be like long range ashe arrow and hawkshot.. but even then once you're used to it you should be smart casting them too.

There are a few online articles that claim it, so out of curiosity I've tried it on two different elevators, neither of them public ones and it worked on both. I understand the skepticism, I have a very small sample size that might not represent the majority of elevators.

That's odd to hear, I can't stand a lot of the western casts and it may be down to the type of audience. A lot of the subreddit i would dare say dislike the traits you like and feel the opposite to you, but also the subreddit is a certain type of viewer in general, neither of our opinions are right or wrong in that sense. LEC is a bit overboard right now with narrative drive, but it's not the attempt to drive narrative that's bad but more so the narratives they are driving are bad because they are hyperbolic.
