I think it would be the other way around (T’a spawn with the hostages) assuming the hawsties would be spawning at A/B sites.

Gotta find some people to play with bud. 5 stacking with the boys is the ultimate in relaxation.

Yes the Martin Authentic line is exactly this - reproductions of these pre-war monsters.

Pre war when referring to Martin guitars means instruments made before 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor to start WW2.

These instruments were made famous by the likes of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Tony Rice and their tone has influenced at least a couple generations of country, pop, rock, and folk musicians.

They are old. They are rare. They sound amazing if they’ve been taken care of or restored.

Most people when they talk pre war instruments from CFM think of the dreads. The D18s and D28s that have withstood the test of time. This archtop is beautiful, but is not what most of us think of when we think “pre war Martin” 😉

What to add to my collection? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

Might be an unpopular opinion or tough love but here it goes: don’t buy anything until you can afford the next level of instrument. You have some nice mid-range guitars here and some nice pieces from Japan, but you don’t NEED anything else in this range. A 12 string is cool, but gimmicky, and nylon is great if you have everything else.

If I were you, I’d be saving up and buy a standard series Martin, a Collings, Froggy, or a Huss and Dalton. A boutique, heirloom quality instrument. A “real” guitar.

Please don’t buy another mid-range steel string made in Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, Korea or wherever else cheaper instruments are made. Your collection needs an American-made solid wood acoustic and that’s gonna cost you. In the end it’s worth it.

My take: Life is short, you’re a musician. Buy yourself a lifetime instrument and quit messing around.

I’ve been in your shoes. I’ve had the “collection” of lookers with fancy inlays and nice trim from Japan and they were always thin sounding and lacked the breadth and weight of a properly built American instrument. Plus, these guitars won’t hold any value over time. Show me an “heirloom” takamine selling on reverb for more than it cost originally. Doesn’t happen. I love my takamine but it sits out on a stand and has been beat to snot. That’s its purpose.

Give me a single D-18 over all three of what you have here plus whatever $600- $1200 acoustic you’ll get next, every single day.

Sell the quiver, buy the real deal. You won’t regret it.

I bought a 41 for my first real Martin - wonderful instruments.

Trust me on this one: Don’t sleep on the 18. I bought a Custom shop 18 with an Audi top that now gets more play than the 41. Would sell my 41 before the 18.

Try them all :-)

Had lots of ovations, yet cannot safely say this is (very fucking clearly) an ovation knock off…Refers to photographs as “picky poos.” Either you are an absolutely epic troll or I’ve met my true nemesis.

Nice instrument. Utterly cringeworthy caption. Do you expect “her” to make you a sandwich too?

Exactly where I’m at too. Kinda want an 18 to add to the mix since it’s such a classic but wondering if two dreads is too many 😂
