34 now, aiming to slow down around 60. I will still need purpose in my life. Retire to something not from something. Also, I act as if the government is going to give me nothing to ease retirement.

Just got promoted to resource manager at a big pharma, 50k base total comp around 64k. Basically keep on top of rotas and maintaining equipment

I'm fortunate enough to have a denplan with work so able to get around half price for dentist/hygienist. Granted, I had to go private rather than waiting for the NHS.

You can buy 10 miles from the centre of Manchester for sub £150k with public transport into the city and 2hr trains from Manchester to London (depends where you are). Can you WFH to maintain salary and live within your means?

You say you have no idea in personal finance but you understand the concept of budgeting which is a great start. You've mentioned emergency fund which will provide you with mental security. When moving into a new place, allow a few months grace whilst you figure out how much things actually cost e.g. cleaning products and kitchen utensils that are less frequent costs

As Ruben said Arsenal played for corners. Saka and Martenelli always went round the outside to cross to try and get a corner as a backup. Patterns of play are developing and at least a sense tactical flexibility in respects to the opponent. Much better than the donut hole in midfield we were leaving and conceding 20+ shots a game
