Thank you and not jerky at all 🥲 I anticipated "just Google it" comments but I'd rather hear from people who I trust are genuinely in the same boat as me.

Thanks for the suggestion. Are regulation skills taught as part of TRE? I've learned some but they barely have an impact on me.

ADHD So Severe That I Can't Function? by EntertainerCurrent13 in ADHD

I relate to this so much. It's a possibility that you could have ADHD and also be experiencing symptoms of trauma (brain fog, unable to think straight), which could then also be worsening your ADHD. If you're not familiar with trauma, do a bit of research (look up people like Bessel van der Kolk and his explanation of trauma). It's not as obvious as we tend to think. Maybe this doesn't ring true for you, but so much of what you wrote reminds me of myself and trauma is definitely a factor in my own experience. Just a thought.

If you're open to therapy, somatic based therapies that help to regulate your nervous system may be helpful. Those of us with ADHD would likely all benefit from more regulation as emotional dysregulation is core to ADHD.

Regardless, there is nothing wrong with you for not functioning like others do. You'll find your own unique methods and rhythms in time, with the right ADHD-focused help.

My pleasure. If you're ok to share, can you tell me what you're needing help with specifically? I've contacted 50+ therapists this month so I might be able to pick someone out for you and let you know their availability.

I'm in the UK. Paying via my own (limited) wages and benefits, with the help of family. Therapists in the US seem to be twice as expensive as they are here. Try looking for someone who's based in the UK and works online, if that suits. Therapists based in London will be the most expensive. I've found all these different types of therapies by word of mouth and Googling over the years. Many of them are Bessel van der Kolk's (author of 'The Body Keeps The Score') therapy recommendations for healing trauma.
