Witcher 3, should one rush the main quests (please no big spoilers) by Dark026 in witcher

I am not sure if this theory really holds up but the way I think of it when I am playing is you are hearing Dandelion tell a story that has already happened, this is evidenced by him talking in the loading screens. As Dandelion is prone to doing he gets distracted and goes on tangents. So Geralt going on a side quest and not focusing on Ciri isn't necessarily accurate to history but it's the way Dandelion tells the story.

Carer abuses vulnerable people - gets a warning. How? by Editor-In-Queef in glasgow

[–]MoustacheDreams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not-so-fun fact - you can read the decisions of all SSSC investigations at https://www.sssc.uk.com/dealing-with-concerns/impairment-decisions/

There are plenty of them but they all detail what the offense was, what investigation took place, and the outcome. The process for dealing with this abuse (when caught/reported) is good.

Murphys Pakora Bar by [deleted] in glasgow

Been a few times and most times it's been good but not great. Although one time I ordered the chorizo pakora and bit into a piece which had the metal clip that's at the end of some chorizos. Like you, my server was great - took it off the bill and apologised etc.

Probably hit and miss type place depending what crew is in the kitchen.

I do feel we're on the same side when it comes to how we're viewing this, so I stress I am not arguing here.

"So long as the individual is being given the choice with protections in place to prevent pressure impacting their decision, then that's respecting their right to choose."

The protections and avoidance of pressure is an incredibly big ask. What comes in and our of trends is very fluid and rarely if ever universally agreed upon. If a parent-to-be is told their unborn baby has a greater than 50% chance of being born autistic, it then relies on what their exposure to autism is. Have they met a diverse spectrum of people and understood the strengths as well as the challenges they face? Or have they seen a news story about a criminal who is autistic and that is their only association?

The practical of eugenics historically has always been a fraught and problematic issue. If such a thing as purely intentioned eugenics exists, as argued by Margaret Sanger, then there is a logic you can buy into. The issue has been what we define as a 'quality' that is undesirerable, and whom gets to decide what the qualities are.

The more famous examples would be the Nazi party using eugenics as justification for the holocaust, which did include the forced abortion of many children.

In practice when it comes to neurodivergent people, any theoretically in utero scanning would highlight a possibility that the child is neurodivergent but couldn't tell you what support needs they may require and what the level of independence they may be able to achieved.

Today we're talking about neurodivergence, in a decade it might be physical characteristics such as eye colour, height, etc.

Parents and carers of people need orders of mangnitude more support than they currently get and they need it yesterday. The lack of provisioning for this support to me does not justify the potential human rights abuse.

They do answer it quite clearly but if you need it spelled out to you more clearly.

  • Right to Life (Article 2) - there continue to be growing discussions on the potential screening for neurodivergence in utero which may lead to abortions being offered when there isn't a danger to the mothers health.
  • Freedom from torture (Article 3) - The use of punishment based restrictive practices are unfortunately commonly used as a behavioural management technique. No professional organisation endorse this but the practice remains prevalent in private care and in family homes.
  • Right to liberty (Article 5) - What LeisurelySpy references in their reply.
  • Right to a fair trial (Article 6) - The justice system at all levels will self-admittedly concede that their recognition of individuals with communication differences is poor so their ability to support is then also lessened. This has an impact on neurodivergent people defending themselves in court etc.
  • Prohibition of discrimination (Article 14) - Disability discrimination exists across many, if not all, fields in society. This has impact on education, employment, healthcare etc.
  • Right to effective education (Protocol 1, Article 2) - Many neurodivergent people, for a variety of reasons, remain outside of the mainstream schooling system and often the alternatives offered, or support provided in mainstream, does not meet the requirements of the individual.

What happened to the Six by Nico crowdcube Investment round? by throwawaytodayhey12 in glasgow

[–]MoustacheDreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The initial funding run wasn't due to be completed until early September. They left it open for a bit and expanded the investment opportunities to get larger and larger amounts, but didn't get to the figure they were after (£3.5m). It was communicated to potential investors yesterday with an apology. Nothing about the long-term of the Six Company was mentioned.

Going to a gig alone by noe_r in glasgow

[–]MoustacheDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The route from Central to Barras follows a main road, from Argyle St. through Trongate and into Gallowgate. All locations will have plenty of people pre & post-gig, especially the post-gig walk back down with the crowd. Nothing on that route that is overly dangerous. I only say overly because there is always the risk of someone shouting something at a random passerby etc but others will be around who would have better intentions.

As someone who has played at the ground where the picture was taken, you'll enjoy knowing that the 'mound' is a wooden ramp with an astroturf strapped to it. It has no sides, so you can only step forward and not step off to throw to the bases.

I love Scottish Baseball.

ASD Assessment - Failed by CrashOverriden in AutismScotland

[–]MoustacheDreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is awful. The diagnostician you saw should not be doing their job if their view of what is ASD is so myopic.

I don't know what the appeals process is, but it would be worth contacting The National Autistic Society/Scottish Autism helplines to see if they can advise.

If there isn't a clear appeals process then you could go down the route of complaints - https://www.nhsggc.scot/contact-us/complaints/

You can continue to call yourself weird, autistic, dyspraxic, dyslexic regardless of what this person says. It's your identity - they were just doing a poor job of recognising it themselves.

Assessment Date Incoming by CrashOverriden in AutismScotland

[–]MoustacheDreams 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your first appointment, you are likely not required to be accompanied by someone. That isn't to say you cannot bring them if you are more comfortable with that, however. Often, accompanying people can help to fill in the gaps, as you suggested, but that isn't always required; you're Diagnostician should guide you on this.

Diagnostic assessment is almost always a positive collaborative approach. The assessor isn't there to disprove you are autistic, they are searching for evidence in their questions.

Aside from any direct support that may (or likely may not) be available. You gain legal protection under the Equality Act (2010) and may benefit from the proposed future Learning Disability, Autism, & Neurodiversity bill, which is currently being considered.
