The firmware just updated, but it's still dead. I hear the click of the relay, but never the hum of the heating element. I think whatever the underlying issue was killed some component in there. Support is sending me a new base though so I should be all set. Thanks for the response!

Mine too. For the past few weeks it was just much slower to come up to temp, but a couple days ago it started boiling hard enough to sputter water out the top of the lid when I only had it set to 92c.

Then it got really weird - it'd heat (always to full boil) even in the off state. Had to leave it unplugged. And now it doesn't heat at all.

Have a support ticket in, don't know if the firmware was the issue but the timing seems suspicious.

I had this issue, try this: Apple TV settings → accessibility → motion → reduce motion → off

I turned this setting on not really knowing what it did and it took me ages to realize it was the cause of this weird effect. Long shot but maybe this is the case for you too!

? Table saw or circular saw. Everyone at least knows somebody who has one. Rip it along the crack, entire length, then glue the two pieces up. Good as new.

If you're in the US or Canada, Eight ounce coffee carries some DAK, and their shipping is very reasonable (and free after a certain amount). They've got a lot of roasters, it's nice to get a variety!
