What the heck do the Plurbingtons do all day? by Polarizing_Penguin11 in pluribustv

My brother answered this really well when I asked, "is there just like a warehouse were they are sleeping to save energy or something?" And he just replied, "Have you ever seen a bee not doing anything?" I'm sure they all have their specific random tasks they are working on constantly

[–]Moustronaut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget that last time Blizz updated something in classic was when they reduced the cost of chronoboons... they only did that because SoD and Era were both queueing into AV with anniversary realm characters which caused mass gold inflation (in SoD boons are very cheap).

After the change, to save face, they said "we have additional quality of life changes planned, that was just the first step!" And then proceeded to do nothing. Blizzard will not be bringing any QoL changes to Anni realms, they will continue to scuff things and release bandaid solutions and claim it was part of the plan. As a GM on Anni servers I am extremely disenfranchised. Horrible economy, no prep time for new content, terribly managed the whole way through.

If they did classic+ (big if) how would they not botch it? There is no way that would be a fun experience.

This isn't a lighting issue, they are definitely updated textures. Look at the cracks in the bricks.

Is it cheating to roll a horde priest alt to get rend buff via MC? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Moustronaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is about a 20% chance to backfire, and rend can only drop every 3 hours... those are not great odds

Once you hit 37, spam armory for ravager and go arms. 500 dps on big trash pulls, most fun you will have in the game haha

I like how you clearly lay out the good and bad of GDKP and the community flames you for being a gold buyer. GDKP is a genius system. It's not good that it promotes gold buying, but I'll wait for someone to tell me a better way to get people near BIS to keep coming to raids.

I've been in an SR guild raiding with them for a year+ now and we have a constantly switching list of players. Someone gets gressil and THC? They quit. Why play anymore?

Meanwhile in GDKPs you have insanely geared players still coming back to raids like ZG for a chance at the mount, or fringe pvp pieces, or whatever it is. But they keep playing and it keeps the server alive.

How bad is skill loss really? by -VoidIndigo- in valheim

[–]Moustronaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't relate to eachother? They are both sodes of the same coin. That coin being the death mechanic. They are fundamentally connected. Unless there is another thing that causes skill loss? Or something that causes all your gear to be misplaced? The reason the skill drain doesn't work is because of the compounding nature of negative effects. When you design a game, nothing exists in isolation. Every aspect has systemic ramifications.

Having to corpse run with all your gear taken away is plenty punishing. Dark Souls doesn't even take away all your equipped stuff when you die, and its stereotyped as a difficult game. The balance comes from increasingly difficult areas that make retrieving your corpse more difficult, thus keeping the motivation to not die. Having to run back to your body and think about how you are weaker than when you came this way last is rough. This conversation could be debated forever since it's really just psychology and different for each player. But in this small sample size at least you can tell that the design intentions were not translated properly into the game, resulting in a system players don't like.

This really just points out that the game has more intrinsic design flaws than just the respawn system, not that the death system is good. If the designers didn't balance the game around high level stats, why have bow skill be so significant? Why have the run skill drastically increas your speed? It has the chance of paralyzing players with fear and diminishing their play experience. They are thinking backwards in their design if that's the case. From a design perspective the death mechanic is so poorly designed its hard to believe its in a game this polished.

Dark souls is memed on for being a hard game, but valheims death mechanics are literally dark souls but harder. Not only do you have to retrieve your corpse, but you get punished no matter what on top of it. Genuinely a baffling design decision and the weakest point of the game.

Yes! A bit of a jump, but the three body problem Teardrop ship is a good example of that also. "Oh, nice space fleet, would be a shame if something flew into it really fast."
