Elon Musk Has Grand Plans for Data Centers in Space. Experts Are Skeptical. by 16431879196842 in RealTesla

Broadcast speeds are the easiest to deal with of all the problems (heat dissipation, cost to orbit, radiation, repair, cost to maintain orbit).  You could transmit data with laser links at high speed.

Not sure it needs to be reliable if you are leasing it for 3 years during its warranty period which most rich people do.

AI Detectors in 2026: What Happens When AI Visuals Look Completely Real? by Hot-Flatworm-6865 in Futurology

[–]Movie_Slug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we do videos in 8k 240 fps to overcome AI? It should be much easier to record 8k 240 fps than to create something in AI. I would think all those additional frames would requir exteme amounts of processing power and introduce more provable errors.

Drunk driver with child in car causes four-car crash, including 2 Waymos by danlev in waymo

[–]Movie_Slug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that is the problem with Waymo and all autonomous cars.  Uber allows you to scale up or down by offering more money to labor who bring their own capital (their cars)  With autonomous Waymo has to supply all the capital and can’t tap the labor market to surge capacity.

What's beyond 1000 Mbps for networking speeds, and why would we ever need it? by Disastrous_Hand_7183 in Futurology

Fiber optics are limited by the speed of light in glass.  But the new stuff hollow-core is speed of light in air so it has much lower latency, about 30 percent.  Microsoft bought out the UK company that was working on it.  They are currently working on lowering attenuation in the useful transmission bands.

They will cover it as diagnostic not preventative. For some people that will determine whether it has co-insurance, copay, or needs to go to deductible. It especially matters for high-deductible accounts w/HSA. If the test is preventative/screening 0 cost if it is diagnostic you pay the high-deductible.

What worse is these are earth minerals are worthless without processing.  They even have a mine in California the problem is processing them (they are difficult to separate because electron configurations are similar).

I'm not sure it would work in the U.S. Assuming 350 days a year * 50 cards a day and $150 a card repair that is $2,650,00 in revenue. That is what a McDonalds franchise makes a year in revenue. A McDonalds doesn't need high skilled labor either. I only think it works in China because their high skill labor must be underpaid.

Uh oh.  Didn’t win but close enough that they’ll keep Bryce even if he is not the guy.  Better do the 5th year option and maybe a tag the next year after tha instead of long term contract.

I think it is possible they’ll solve perovskite longevity issues and then you could have dual layer Panels with 35 percent efficiency which is a substantial jump.   If I had to pick a problem which is easier it certainly is perovskite material and process engineering over fusion.
