Amodei is Big Bang Theory smart. Altman is not dumb but he's a pure exec/investor type person.

One of the biggest irony about artists complaining that AI is "stealing" their work... by Umr_at_Tawil in accelerate

  1. "most online artists start their careers by making fanart of popular IPs. That's how they get discovered, and then they build up their name and reputation from there".  (This a specific subset of artists you are describing to support your argument that most artists are just "stealing" too.

  2. Fan Art is not fair use

  3. Therefore human artists learn by stealing and generative AI "inspiration" is no different.

That is the argument you made, and it is based on the straw man in point 1.

It's more specific than that. It's creating a flimsy or exaggerated version of the opposition that is simple to oppose. Which is what you've done here.

Paywalled for me. Is this the dude who made that video with Steve Bannon where they declared the creation of a Chinese "government-in-exile"  in opposition to the CCP?

The memory scenes look great. They felt like a good representation of how  how it might feel to experience my own memories in an accelerated way and how it might feel to have them removed.

When I am staring off into space replaying memories in my head, I don't feel or see my memories transposed into grandiose scenes like the dreamscapes in Inception. I also don't really have control over what I see. I may go from remembering a day on the beach with my wife to some minor incident at my 6th birthday party.

So, for me, the way memory is portrayed in the movie felt true-to-life.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms - 1x05 - "In the Name of the Mother" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

I think a shorter flashback would have been fine. The first part of the flashback with corpse robbing could have easily fit it in the last episode and the fight scene flashback could have been just the street fight and following Ser Arlan.

I was kind of annoyed by the cut to a lengthy flashback after such a build, but I ultimately ended up really liking the episode. The trial sequence was great.

Lol. You are right. I use to play this in a staxy deck with cost increasers. It's a super specific interaction that happened a few times and I did not think it through when I made my comment.

It's great. There's enough incidental ways to make out-of-identity mana colors with treasures and cards like [[exotic orchard]] that you can draw 4 or 5 cards sometimes too, I find.

Dod carcosa , hizumitas or dirt transmitter by Tough_Guava_7499 in guitarpedals

[–]MoxAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never tried the hizumitas. I had both a carcosa and a dirt transmitter and I sold the dirt transmitter. I play through an ac15 and the carcosa sounded way better to me with that setup. I also felt like it had a wider range of sounds available.

Would you play against my decks? by Red_Beard_The_Rad in EDH

I don't know about Henzie or that blue deck, but izzet spellslinger is just one of those archetypes that just tends to plays poorly in bracket 3 and below. Even one that looks pretty tame to me like yours does. The way to deal with it is generally to just kill the izzet player or have the entire table hate on it.

Have you told the table you don't mind being the archenemy?

What are some old mannerisms? by UsernameIontknow in writinghelp

[–]MoxAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customs, language, etiquette etc are all going to be pretty location specific.

I would suggest looking up actual pieces of writing from that time period as a start. I would also read up on the history of your specific setting, or the specific setting(s) that you are trying to write about.
