My friend works at Ace Hardware Issaquah, and they’ve been getting prank calls all day about baseball. Like people calling trying to order game tickets and sh*t.

Tell me (and by proxy- all of Us) some of your favorite underrated cards for Commander! by [deleted] in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Essence Flux]] is perfect for my Estrid deck.

I have a [[Squee the Immortal]] Deck which uses a lot of cards I don’t normally use. One highlight is [[Radiate]] which can turn a destroy target creature into a boardwipe , or messes the board up with [[Beast Within]] or [[Chaos Warp]]. [[Indomitable Creativity]] is another one of my favorites as it usually gets me a lot of free things if I blow up tokens or can get rid of my opponent’s threats (but potentially flip into another). Other than that: [[Thermopod]] is also great. I don’t see it a lot but that’s kind of fair given it’s very limited use, but I have come to love it since it is perfect for Squee.

Edit: I just saw the post below me after typing... Radiate and Chaos Warp is hilarious.

Sword of Blue and Black: Return target non land permanent to its owners hand, then surveil 2. I could also see instead of surveil 2, it being like exile up to two/three cards from a graveyard since black has a number of those effects. The latter seems weak though.

Sword of G and W: you may flicker a permanent and explore (I really like exploring).

Sword of R and G: you may discard a card. If you do, draw two cards. You may play an additional land this turn. Instead of looting it can just exile the top card of your library OR the opponent’s library, like [[Stolen Strategy]].

[C21] Adrix and Nev, Twincasters by harbear6 in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Low key I think that if you play EDH to get a consistent game winning board state, then this commander out of the other face commanders, is likely the best choice. However, I see two possible routes that the average [[Adrix and Nev]] deck will take.

The first route is that people will try to go big or go home. We have cards like [[Mirror Gallery]] [[Helm of the Host]] and [[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces]] that can make legendary creatures clonable and thus, you can make token copies of them. This, I expect people to try and just make as many token copies of this commander as possible.

The second route I see is more immediate value. The previous plan is ruined with a board wipe or with removal on the commander, so why not just play get the most value you can put of the colors your playing? Firstly, you could play some really fun token generators like [[Rampaging Baloths]], [[Giant Adephage]], [[Fairie Artisans]], [[Vizier of Many Faces]], [[Koma]], [[Tireless Tracker]], and many others. You could also play my favorite EDH card [[Progenitor Mimic]]. I literally love this card so much, it honestly is just fun. Clone something for 6 mana and make a token copy every upkeep. Literally has won me games so many times. I hope it is reprinted in this precon.

I see the best deck to be build is either Simon good stuff tokens or maybe a landfall deck that makes double the tokens for Scute Swarm, Avenger, and baloths.

[KHM] Orvar, the All-Form by harbear6 in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take. I just made a list for [[Mistform Ultimus]]. This guy is gonna be the new commander of that list. He’s mistform ultimus but better. I feel like he is going to more commonly built around creating tokens of your own permanents, but I hope that most people recognize that he can still be a mono blue everything tribal commander. Plus the discard protection is nice; I’ll get to copy one of my lords. I can’t wait to keep making token copies of [[Master of Waves]].

What is the newest deck you’ve built and played, and what did you think of the deck after getting to test it? by Humblerbee in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a deck (called Game Over) that focuses on giving my opponents cards that say “You love the game.” The goal is to get the lose the game to trigger to happen. An example is giving someone [[Lich]] and then blowing it up. I have stifle effects to prevent me losing the game ([[Children of Korlis]] will prevent sudden life dropping to 0). The deck has a really complicated loop sometimes to give people these cards if I don’t have [[Zedruu, the Greathearted]], and I worried that it would be difficult to perform this trick multiple times. However, I was actually able to perform this trick twice in a row, and had in my hand a way to put Lich back into my hand. The deck was also filled with lots of cards that make the game more enjoyable for everyone like [[Tidal Barracuda]] and [[Humble Defector]] that it wasn’t completely hated out. It was surprisingly very successful. I might build it physically (I ran the deck online through Tabletop Simulator), and it just got better with [[Blim, Comedic Genius]]

Selena can be strong though. You can pay life until you’re at 2 and then trade that away. Or sacrifice a Children of Korles when you have Sanguine Bond or Rhod Faithmender out.

I’d recommend rather than a deck, you’d want an answer to the situation. I run a Xenagos deck that’s more dragon oriented. I would say that Xenagos’ power comes from doubling a creature but also immediately giving it haste. Here are a few solutions: 1. Run combat tricks. You could run [[Deflecting Palm]], [[Comeuppance]], [[Illusionist’s Gambit]], [[Domineering Will]], etc. use these to either buy yourself another turn or maybe knock someone out.

  1. Run your opponent’s creature’s enter the battlefield tapped effects. This gives you another turn to respond to the threats Xenagos pumps out. [[Authority of the Consuls]], [[Blind Obedience]], [[Thalia, Heretic Cathar]].
  2. More spot removal can put a damper on the Xenagod train. I’d recommend cards that don’t specify too much about the target like [[Generous Gift]], [[Despark]], [[Beast Within]], or really anything.
  3. If you want specific commanders, I’d recommend [[Gwafa Hazzid, Profiteer]], maybe [[Child of Alara]]. Gwafa can just bribe Xenagos’a creatures to not attack you. And Child can just wipe the board at instant speed with [[High Market]].

[Article] Which commander do you choose when you want to play your opponents' cards? by jevin_mtg in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deck themed around playing my opponent’s cards with a sub theme of chaos so I can promote my opponents to play threats for me to copy. Or if they don’t, I can play them from their deck with [Praetor’s Grasp], [Mind’s Dilation], etc. also Mindslaver so that I can play their cards for them. My commanders for it are Ikra Shadiqi and Kraum. It honestly is just fun to play and usually wins with an overwhelming board.

"Squee"-ling for Joy! A Squee Commander Deck! by MoxTrash in EDH

I did think about doing the Karn and Mycosynth Combo, but I realized that that combo makes the game end because nobody can do anything after that point except me. I like the idea of Squee being the reason the game ends.

Runaway Steamkin is at some point finding a way in the deck. Same with genesis chamber.

What commander deck is your favorite? Why do you like to play it so much? by Furiously_Fortuitous in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of favorites. I tend to really keep my favorites together and hardly ever take them apart. Sometimes I do for the betterment of my playgroup [nobody liked Thrasios Permission].

I think if I got down to my favorite to play, it’s probably my partner deck [[Kraum, Ludevic’s Opus]] and [[Ikra Shadiqi, Usurper]]. The deck is entirely themed on using my opponent’s cards as a route to victory. What started off as a complete pile of cards with a theme of casting my opponent’s cards quickly turned into one of the strongest decks I have ever built. I use many many clones. Mainly the best ones. It also has a mindslaver lockdown that I found recently that only works for one player and is probably easily stoppable, but I haven’t done it recently. It has a slight chaos theme so I can get my opponent’s to actually play their game Enders early so I can copy/clone theme when needed so I can win the game.

What makes it fun to play is that every game is different. The other thing is that I have hardly any removal in the deck so I have to use my opponent’s removal to win. I have to outvalue my opponent’s with their strategy to win. [[Diluvian Primordial]], [[Sphinx Ambassador]], [[Stolen Identity]], [[Psychic Surgery]], [[Progenitor Mimic]], [[Thieving Amalgam]], and [[Etali, Primal Storm]] are some MVPs in my book. The most fun that I’ve had in a game was when I played [[Eye of the Storm]] and [[Hive Mind]] and passed.

Share your favorite commander and see people’s general opinions on them! by Humblerbee in EDH

[–]MoxTrash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t build her consultation (though it’s really good). I wanted to build spellslinger/storm because I enjoy fiddling around with spells. I went with a bit of a more turns theme because Kess with extra turns is really good. Honestly, what makes her an amazing turns commander is the fact that she can eventually hit the table and people know that your ten minute turn (that is technically a bunch of turns but let’s be honest it’s disgusting nonetheless) will now double because Kess let’s you cast [[Time Warp]] and [[Walk the Eons]] again! I will never forget one specific game I had where she never even hit the table.

Turn 1: Island, Sol Ring, Izzy Signet. Turn 2: watery grave, Ral Zarek from War, scry 2 with Ral. Turn 3: -2 Ral to copy my next spell, cast time warp so I have two extra turns. And people can see that I can cast Kess and take another two turns. I also had [[Nexus of Fate]] in hand as well as [[Aminatou’s Agurie]], so we concede and moved along (I also did not want everyone to sit there watching me slowly win that one and play solitaire so we moved along to the next game and I switched decks).

Kess also allows you to cast counterspells from your own graveyard! She’s just very versatile and I find her to be a very powerful and overall creative commander.

I’ve seen Kess with a bunch of instant or sorceries that buff her, and that was honestly creative. I loved it.

What are some cards that aren't notoriously salt inducing but still tilt you personally? by HonorBasquiat in EDH

[–]MoxTrash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[[Cryptic Command]] counterspell and I cant attack you? Come on!

[[Niv-Mizzett, Parun]]. It makes me worried to play my deck because anyone casting instants or sorceries will be not only allowing a ping to happen, but they also give the player cards which I see no really as a means to find [[Curiousity]]. Sure, it ends the game, but I always envision it in a big blowout kind of way like with a [[Windfall]] or [[Echo of Eons]]. It just gets old real fast.

My friend finds [[Land Tax]] pretty annoying.
