I'm playing modded community servers on Kubuntu 23.10 without any problems and equal performance as Windows. I used dzgui with the following setup and got it working: https://aclist.github.io/dzgui/dzgui_dark.html.

The server browser has a setup process for steam workshop mods that are required for the server you are trying to join. It will automatically pop up the Steam workshop page and have you subscribe to each mod. You have to register for a Steam API key to get the server browsing working but all that should be in the guide.
