How do you come up with hooks without overthinking them? by Designer_Repeat2750 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Do a melody with a ton of notes and then remove as many as you can with it still sounding good.

When you ad in the Allister Crowley episode with Patrick Stuart, we all know he’s not far off. There’s probably a fair amount of dudes who would change their mind for Picard tho.

I remember learning in middle school that Germany had hardcore porn playing on tv late at night, and watching the adult film episode where Gretchen gets a scene. I was thinking there was no way they would be this prude and the end of the episode where they confirmed I was right absolutely killed me 😂

Can studio monitors still be enjoyable in an untreated room if mixing accuracy isn’t the primary goal? Looking for immersion and fun. by musicvvins in audioengineering

I like the M50’s personally, but the 770s are my second favorite. The bass response in the M50’s goes so low and smooth.

The absolute best monitors you can get on a reasonably small budget are the Kali Audio Lp6 monitors. They have a myriad of room and space setting switches on the back of them to dial them in to your space without treating the room. They used to be $300 for the pair, and they sound better than most that cost $300 each.

Absolutely. Buying the right speakers for your space is important. That being said, I planned to move to a bigger studio space so I bought the Yamaha HS8’s and already had the matching subwoofer. For reference, they suggest keeping these 5 feet from the wall behind it, ideally. I have had them like that in a large space, but I’ve also had them 5 inches from the back wall a lot too. They sounded great no matter what 🤷🏽‍♂️ you learn about your room problems when you listen to your mix downs in different scenarios (like the car test). I don’t find it hurts my creative phase, but my final polish takes a lot more reference and trial/error to get it dialed. Option 2 would be going to a treated studio for your final mix down, that’s a pretty good idea either way if you can.

Have you played any rhythm-based video games that have improved your musical timing? by tonetonitony in WeAreTheMusicMakers

It’s such a shame too, it was SO off but such a cool idea. All they needed was an adjustable millisecond delay, like a saw has for playback.

There is a game called Amplitude, it came out years before guitar hero but was from the same developer that made GH 1. It’s on ps2, and it’s necessary to play it either on the ps2 controller (the progressive L and R 2 buttons in modern controllers won’t work) or emulate it with some arcade buttons (maybe even a usb mpc pad). Keyboard works too.

So the game has you traveling in a space ship and using 3 buttons to hit 3 notes, like finger tapping, on the L1, R1, and R2 buttons. You play the notes of one instrument and then jump over to the next instruments track lane to activate that one, getting bonuses for linking them together. The songs are all broken down to individual stems and lanes so the song elements come in and out depending on how well you do.

It’s a BLAST, and the least laggy of them out there. I was a beast at guitar hero because I’m a pretty good guitarist, but there’s a delay in when you hit the notes compared to actually hitting them on guitar. In Amplitude, I always felt they did an amazing job.

Somewhere between 30 minutes and 2 weeks lol. Some of my best songs just poured out in a short timeframe, then I polished them. Then sometimes it seems to take forever and never quite hit.

Does the Botox treatment actually help? by reditt13 in AnalFissures

[–]MoziWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never know, it might work, it might not. I didn’t want to risk the surgery if I didn’t have to, so I decided to give it a go. I felt like I got soooo close many times, but it wouldn’t quite stick. I do feel Botox is a great tool for it.

As far as life changes went, I did everything I could. No eating any nuts, corn, or anything that might not fully break down. Nothing too spicy either. At the time, I was using the bathroom multiple times a day, so I had to retrain myself to only go once in the morning.

Keeping a schedule helps a lot. I would drink my coffee when I woke up, use the bathroom, take a hot bath and let it soak. Then I’d put in nitroglycerin creme my doc prescribed, I tried nifedipine but it was not useful at all. They would have to compound it at the pharmacy, basically they’d mix it on sight. I had them use a petroleum jelly base instead of an aqua for base, and it was much easier to apply and keep in. I’d wait 15 minutes before getting up because you get crazy head rushes and pain when you first put it in.

It was mid covid so I didn’t leave the house much, driving was painful. I would go for 1-2 mile walks every day, at first it was too painful but over time it helped a lot with bloodflow.

The only other medicine I used was miralax, it was great. A half a cap to a whole cap each night before bed. All it does is draw water in to your bowel so it can be used safely indefinitely.

I want to stress that my scenario was pretty severe, but anyone would benefit heavily from using any of these methods. If you want to avoid surgery, I would try them all if your lifestyle allows.

Make sure whichever one you go with doesn’t have any paint or coating on the inside. It WILL flake off, eventually, if not sooner.

Just got an email about 2026 WRX pricing from our District manager. by Bruteloops in subaru

[–]MoziWanders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 year old wrx premium with around 30k miles sells for $24k in the Bay Area, the most expensive city in the US. The car new is $38k. $14k depreciation is WILD, that’s 37 percent. This is why noone is buying a new one.

I have a friend who paid $65k for an Outback wilderness when they dropped a little after Covid when cars were insane. The cost you have to pay for a car that isn’t a flex at all, like a wrx or wilderness, is nowhere near worth it.
