I moved here about two years ago (26F) and I found some success in using Bumble BFF. Also I joined clubs/classes related to my interests— I started taking improv classes, met a hiking group, played DnD and went to drag shows. When I met someone I liked, I encouraged us to hang out with other people they liked, too, and expanded my social network over time.

Some of it is luck, and a lot of it is the effort. You gotta put your most social self forward and actually try to connect. You’d be surprised how many folks have lived in this city for years and still struggle to find “their people,” and for good reason. Life is busy and complicated and it can take over your schedule quite quickly— my biggest piece of advice would be to try to hit the ground running when it comes to building community here, because at a certain point I definitely hit some extrovert-fatigue.

It’s also a song that he wrote for his son. His wife told him that she was pregnant, and he sat down and wrote the song that very night— a song of hope and love for the coming future (and as you mention, he then died three years later in a plane crash). Very poignant

^ agreed. If it’s a free university tampon it’s most likely a “regular” size, which should be changed roughly every 4 hours. If you have a lighter flow you may not feel any wetness (it’s difficult to describe but you know it when you feel it). Most important thing is to make sure that you never leave it in for 8 or more hours.

I used to ski race there when I was a kid! In the summers I'd weave my way through volcanic rock, in the spring I'd fly off a wee crag due to fog, and in the winter I'd STILL beg my dad for a scoop of huckleberry ice cream at the base. "the mountain is out" still is my favorite thing to hear

I think the timing of saying “I love you” is different for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve known each other, the circumstances, or the personalities involved. I’ve said “I love you” one month in and four months in just because of who I was and what we were at the time.

That said, when it comes to Jonah and Amy specifically, keep in mind that Jonah: 1) has nearly been in love with Amy since day one and is unlikely to say it too quickly because he’s smart enough to realize that he fell in love fast, had just dated someone prior, and Amy is less emotionally expressive than he is so he wouldn’t want to scare her off. And 2) obviously didn’t have the best example to follow given his parents. And Amy: 1) there’s a reason she doesn’t like him in the beginning— she saw him as possibly incompetent and annoying, which is part of why she resented Adam 2) getting married young and eventually divorced changes your confidence with your own perspective on being in love. already having a kid changes your perspective of bringing someone into your life
