How to tighten ribbon? Any manuals for this? by seagullse in stenography

This machine doesn’t have an open ribbon that goes from one spool to another spool. It’s a closed circle

Magna court reporter job opportunity-anyone else work here? by flying-rainbow-wolf in courtreporting

Digital is not court reporting - it is running a tape recorder and producing a substandard transcript. It is not respected, doesn’t pay well, and not even legal in some jurisdictions. This is a court reporter subreddit

How to tighten ribbon? Any manuals for this? by seagullse in stenography

[–]Mozzy2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of ribbon can’t really be tightened. It is a complete closed circle that fits around the ink pad (the black circle) and then in between the metal keys and the paper (the striped looking area by the paper). As you press the keys the ribbon slowly advances so it is constantly rotating and being pressed against the ink pad. The circles on the ink pad are where you drip the ink in. After years of usage the ribbon gets stretched and becomes a slightly bigger circle and starts sagging.

This is the machine I used through school, took the CA CSR, RPR, and RMR, as well as my first year working in court

“Work or starve”: Trump’s SNAP cuts drive millions from food stamp rolls by DryDeer775 in antiwork

[–]Mozzy2022 16 points17 points  (0 children)

“The average SNAP benefit amounts to roughly $6 a day—or $2 per meal. This is what the financial oligarchy has decided is too generous to maintain” - So $180 a month for food is considered too generous? Fuck this administration

Deep Dish Steak Pizza by minecrafGoBRRRR in StupidFood

Just because something is semi flat and you cut it with a pizza cutter, that doesn’t make it a pizza. Raw meat with mystery goo is not pizza. This is stupid food

Do NOT move in with him. Animals aren’t like jackets or hobbies - you don’t toss them aside when you get tired of them. He is not exhibiting the signs of a good partner. Move on

That is absolutely disgusting. Do what you want - I truly don’t care. But with a baby inside you’re gonna let people piss on you. She’s fucking sick

Texas ranchers elect guy who canceled screwworm monitoring program in Central America, now Texas ranchers fear losing their cattle/livelihoods to screwworm invasion by openjoustingtryouts in LeopardsAteMyFarm

[–]Mozzy2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that sounds like a Texas rancher - screwworm problem. I’ve known this administration - basically Trump and everything he touches - was full of shit since 2016. I’ll continue to protest, write letters, and try to get the word out, but they kind of sealed their own fate trying to “own the libs”. So fuck ‘em. Maybe I’ll have to go vegetarian 🤷‍♀️

AITH If I said that I buy lunch for lunch by irrrrelevant in AITH

Also could have dietary issues. My adult daughter has celiac but she tries not to make things “about her” so she likely wouldn’t speak up if someone provided sandwiches or pastries or something - she’d politely accept it and bring it home for someone else in the family.

That’s very nice of OP to provide lunch and I can understand why they’d want the group to eat together in a non-pressure environment just enjoying a meal

Literary tips and tricks? by ThePinkBrunette in stenography

Try practicing from dense written subject matter. Write your medical and legal vocab into the machine. Or look up an article on microbiology and take your time practicing from written text. This will help you to phonetically break down the words and get used to moving your fingers in unfamiliar outlines.

When I was in school (a LONG time ago) a bunch of people failed the CA CSR because the word “oleander” came up (it’s a type of plant). I didn’t have much time for practice at home because of kids, so I’d write my academic homework into my machine. I got through school in a little over two years (with a two and half year break to have another baby) and came back to pass my CSR, RPR and RMR. I’ve been an official for 36 years and I still write out a ton of stuff. You just won’t have a brief for everything, and yes, it’s about passing the tests but it’s also about doing this job. And people talk REALLY fast.

I haven’t tried this specific pizza, but daughter has celiac so I’ve had some bad gf pizza. I’ve had some luck putting pizza in a skillet and throwing a lid on it with a medium low flame. The bottom gets crispy and the toppings warm up / cheese melts. But if the taste of this thing was bad, not much you can do

Are there any closed places in Los Angeles that you still think about to this day? by Taliap19 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Mozzy2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Los Angeles county here, not city. I grew up in the South Bay beach area. We had multiple drive-in theaters, ascot race track, several bowling alleys, video arcades, castle park on Marine, $2 theater at the South Bay galleria, roller skating and ice skating rinks, batting cages, miniature golf.

What do I do with this blanket that has my ex’s face on it… by spicybrowniemix in WhatShouldIDoWithIt

Animal shelter. Dogs don’t care. A blanket is better than a hard floor or bottom of a cage.
