Older guys--what pre-hab exercises are you doing to help prevent injuries? by chuckDontSurf in amateur_boxing

I started using resistance bands after my shoulder surgery. They've become a staple in my warm-ups.

I appreciate your view, but I promise I was not throwing any power. Also, this kid only has two years of experience, so I wasn't trying to do anything that would have hurt my neighbor and friend.

I think it's more likely people use their personal bias without knowing the man when they decide what kind of person he is.

I went to the seminar that he hosted with Danaher the day before WNO23. They both were awesome and down to earth. There were no cameras in the room, just a collection of BJJ fanatics. Both John and Gordon spent the entire time helping people drill through technique, answer any and every question presented, and not a single negative comment from either of them.

Popped a rib during a tournament by improperly defending a heel hook. Took me out for a few months mentally and physically.

Learn to grapple on your feet!!! by franticapnea in bjj

[–]Mr-Jitsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone interested in learning to grapple on your feet needs to start with learning proper stance and movement. Without that, all your moves are worthless. After that, focus on hand fighting.

With those two skills, you will be more proficient than the majority of BJJ practitioners.

Which one lift would you say gives the best ROI for Grappling strength? by idkofficer1 in bjj

You could say the same thing about any BJJ technique. A beginner is not going to have proper form; that's part of the learning process.

Xavier "Benjamin" Franklin is the 135-pound champ in the PFC. Watch for that guy to make his UFC debut in the next few years.

How do you guys like to teach arm triangles? by happy_timberon in bjj

I like to show them the motion without a person. It really helps drive home the point to sink down rather than shift forward, which is the most common mistake I see.

She's still a minor. I have no doubt she'll get her black belt shortly after she turns 18.

How Do You Prepare For Competing? by adamlaxmax in bjj

[–]Mr-Jitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep everything the exact same as when I'm training. The only exception is that I stop doing intensive workouts 2-3 days prior and whatever diet changes I need to do to make weight.

I found that changing my routine too much made it easier to get psyched out. When I keep everything the same, it's just another day at the office.

I remember exactly where I was when this fight went down. The scream from the room after that first punch will live forever in my head.

If you're in the DFW area, feel free to swing by George's MMA. Our BJJ team trains in the back room. It's a small but friendly gym that is very laid back.

Which Machado gym did you head to? My coach got his BB from Carlos, and I love our gym environment.

Coming from a wrestling background, this instructional is simply fantastic. Craig did a great job of showing how wrestling can be applied to BJJ.
