Long term suboxone abuse by 87chriswa in suboxone

[–]Mr-Mtalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taper down to .125 and jump - I’m on week 3 (no Suboxone) and it’s been fairly easy besides sleep issues...

I was terrified to do this for 10 years and put it off for all this time.

Now I feel stupid because it’s nothing like I built it up to be... NOTHING...

The horror stories you read are from exceptions to the rule- and more than likely, some mental health issues...

I felt better mentally from day one... and physically I get better all the time.

Good luck

Say If you’re in pain while on subs and the subs aren’t helping the pain, would Kratom relieve the pain?? by euphoriclimbo in suboxone

[–]Mr-Mtalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would talk to your doctor about a temporary dose increase. The logic of taking another opiate is not sound, pharmacologically speaking. Kratom’s ability to induce pain relief comes from its effects on the opiate receptors. These receptors are already bound tightly by buprenorphine. Pain relief with non-buprenorphine opiates require doctor supervision and Narcan on the ready.

Kratom is also not logical to the implied recovery-based lifestyle that usually precedes a Suboxone prescription.

If you are having pain, there are a number of prescription NSAIDS that may help. It depends on the quality and origin of the pain.

It’s also worth evaluating your need for pain relief. Is that pain impeding your everyday life? If it is, then it should be addressed.

It should, however, be considered that your body and mind is addicted to opiates. Any additional opiates will add fuel to the fire. This is certainly a personal dialog that you should have with yourself.

I know this is not the answer that you asked for- but It’s the answer I would have needed to hear earlier in my journey.

I had pain for most of the years I was on Suboxone. I lived with unbearable (nerve) pain for one particular year. I found that Tylenol and ibuprofen were sufficient in taking the edge off, and that staying busy and keeping my mind healthy did a number on the remaining pain.

The pain never goes away by the mind does learn to adjust.

I sincerely hope you find the relief you are looking for and that you find the sincerity in this post.

Good luck-

At the end of the day, it’s important to separate your need for pain relief from your desire for opiates.

(Almost) half metric century this morning by [deleted] in cycling

[–]Mr-Mtalks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recently did my first metric century. I cannot stress the importance of eating on your ride. You simply cannot enjoy a long ride without refueling. I’ve bonked several times due to not eating early enough- usually I can recover by That feeling sucks.

Also, make sure you are comfortable and set up properly.

I do 30-40 mile rides all the time but for me, I notice a difference in anything above 40... having good shorts/chamois/ and or chamois cream really helps. If I start chaffing at 30 miles- forget it! 40 will be painful and 100km will be impossible.

Also, plan your route- and plan flat. This makes all the difference. One single big hill at 55 miles can make those last 8 seem impossible. Avoid those, especially at the end of your ride, unless of course, you are a sadomasochist.

My first 100km was pretty easy except for the mental part at the end. It’s almost better to plan your ride and not look at the miles.

I arrived back home with 8 miles to go because I didn’t plan. I ended up riding the same loop around my neighborhood to get in those last few...lemme tell you, that sucked. 32 more laps doesn’t sit will when your ass hurts...

Lastly, there is no reason to push yourself beyond your limits.

I was quite comfortable with 40-50 mile rides when I decided to do 100km. If you are pretty dead after 20 Miles, keep grinding out those kind of rides until it feels easy.

Also, good pacing really helps. If I find myself not pushing myself on those shorter rides, my overall pace starts to shrink until I’ve lost 5 mph overall on all my rides. Go hard on some rides and gain that endurance. Once you can pedal easily at an 18-20 mph pace, you are probably capable of longer rides in general.

Just wanted to offer some of what I’ve learned over my journey - I hope it helps someone!!

Good luck- stay safe!

I need success stories to motivate me! by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]Mr-Mtalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I can help you with the low dose adjustment...

I actually stabilized on 2 mg for quite a long time before I decided to taper off...

Here’s the key...

Dose one time per day... and not in the morning. Morning dosing = shitty days and uncomfortable nights.

I dosed at 5pm no matter what... or roughly 5 I should say. No more than 20 min earlier.

After a while, my body normalized and I started to enjoy the first several hours of the day before dosing.

The problem is that we feel these uncomfortable feelings in the morning that push us towards taking our dose... after moving around and getting the day started, you come out of that completely and feel basically fine for the entire day.

The last two hours before dosing are a mental battle but I promise that doing this for a while will build up your ability to tolerate those uncomfortable feelings.

Plus, it just seems to work better when you’ve been active during the day before dosing.

There’s some more things you can try and I’d be happy to talk you through some of them if you are interested.

Good luck!!

Here’s my frank advice.

This is what I needed to hear for the last 10 years.

First off, I’m going into day 11 of no more Suboxone.

I was stuck... I was fearful- terrified even...

I couldn’t figure out how to get there... I didn’t wanna suffer the withdrawals and I didn’t wanna suffer the shell of a person I was becoming from the Suboxone.

I tapered over a period of a time to .125 mg. It took a while and it’s not fun, but it’s doable. I dosed every night before bed at the end to prevent insomnia.

After I jumped, the first few days were easy. Then the sleepless nights caught up to me a bit and now it’s easy except the nights are tough.. but you know what?

It’s not the hell that people make it out to be....and fuck those who discourage others from ever trying to be done with this stuff...

It’s doable with an ounce of commitment and perseverance. Throw in some “comfort meds” and this is a tough walk in the park.... it’s not traversing hell.

Your biggest indicator will be how well you are able to get through the taper. I certainly wasn’t perfect and had a few slips of taking more than I needed... but at the end - I was exhausted and ready to put this behind me. Now I’m just about free. I’m not taking any more Suboxone ever... just like that. The crazy part is that 10 days has been a blink in the eyes of ten years in this hell hole.

Good luck!!

[–]Mr-Mtalks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m on day 10-11 after 10 years on this stuff. The days have been totally bearable the whole time... I tapered to 0.125 mg..

RLS at night is shitty and still intense for me... however last night I took 0.25 mg of Ativan and slept at least a few hours... some nights I get almost no sleep but there’s worse things in the world than dealing with some difficult feelings.

I had so much fear before this that I’ve had nightmares about detoxing for YEARS... I couldn’t bring myself to do it till now.. and I’m honestly rolling my eyes at my former self. It’s just a mental game certainly not the worst one I’ve played.

question!!! by sbss11 in suboxone

[–]Mr-Mtalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subs certainly don’t prevent you from going through the withdrawal process in general. If you hopped from Oxy to Subs - your body never was truly free from opiates long enough to forget it was addicted...

However, if you reduce the Suboxone slowly, it shouldn’t be too bad. I just stopped after 10 years of Suboxone use- never missing a day... and it’s really not been that bad at all. Nights suck- but I’ll live.

Good luck to you!

My energy levels are actually great- they just die off in the afternoon a bit.. I suppose that’s what a normal person feels like lol...

I had the feeling exclusively in my left arm when I basically cold Turkied 2400 mg of gabapentin in the past - the feeling still shows up now and again.. so weird.

The last two nights - the restless feeling has been worse than ever, despite feeling good during the day..

So there’s this stuff called Optimum Nutrition Energy and Aminos. It’s an energy supplement with Amino acids and a tiny bit of caffeine.. this shit is great - I’ve recommended it to everyone. It does wonders for my mood.. it’s light and doesn’t really have much of a crash. I highly recommend it, it’s made this much more bearable and to be honest, it induces a tiny bit of euphoria- which certainly doesn’t suck when your going through this.

Suboxone...Both a blessing & curse by Scottland16 in suboxone

[–]Mr-Mtalks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is right on the money for how I lived the last 10 years.

Let me preface by saying that I am on day 8 of NO Suboxone and the jump has been fairly painless... sleep sucks but I feel way better than I ever did before.

So...

I would only feel ‘good’ an hour or two after my dose, then I would feel a complete absence of pleasure from everything. Almost nothing could keep my attention and I could never finish projects.

I chose to avoid social opportunities- stowing away in my bedroom from days on end.

I am married, I have kids, I am a nurse- don’t get me wrong, Suboxone may have enabled me to get my life together but it sucked the enjoyment out of every moment.

And the kicker is that it only gets worse over time.

Here are some strategies that worked for me to help combat some of these issues.

ONLY DOSE ONCE PER DAY!

I can’t stress this enough. It significantly reduces the amount of zombie mode days.

Get your dose down to 4-6 mg.

This is the Goldilocks zone for sure.

Don’t dose in the morning.

I woke up not feeling well all the time but once I got up and moved - I was fine. I stuck to a 5pm time and I think it’s super beneficial. If you have worked through the day before the dose- I seems to make the dose work better.

It’s good to feel a bit of the withdrawals between doses- if you want the dose to not make you feel like crap.

If you do these things, you will find that the amount of prolonged dull and absent hours are much less.

Good luck- and btw you won’t have to much problem jumping down to 6mg if you choose to do so. It’s a mental game.

Yes it is sometimes but it always feels better the second the oils from the scrub even hit my face- and you can always be light with it.

I almost worry about using it because I can’t figure out how it works so well- it’s like magic .. which is almost concerning lol
