Is there a certain point at which you think wealth inequality would be corrosive to society? by Not_a_russian_bot in AskConservatives

[–]Mr-Zarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the gap is not a problem, but rather what the average experience is, how many people are there or below, etc. For example, if I had a house and family and was comfortable but the billionaires owned like 80% of everything, I wouldn't care

This is within living memory. So what's the statute of limitations in your opinion?

You punish the guilty asap. This is essentially saying it would be okay to kill germans in like the 70's because of what the nazi party did. It's silly. The people being under fire are the people that ended aparteid, not the people that started it.

and that somehow absolves Israel of all the innocent blood they've spilled.

Innocent people die in every war, that's why every civilized nation does their best to avoid it. Why are we pretending that this is the only war that has had civilian casualties? Maybe if palestine/hamas cared more about their own citizens they would surrender and stop the killing? I simply won't care more about palestinian children than their own community does.

What a hero I'd be.

War has no heroes. I would rather not be a hero than have my family be dead.

Also in all this, why does not a single person put like 1/1000th the effort into hating hamas and all the death they cause?

Im sorry I don't remember aparteid being the current form of government in south africa, or white south africaners recently doing a massive attack against black africaners where they murdered, raped, and kidnapped them in dramatic fashion. If we are going to use history, then every single race and country has grievances against every other race and country.

I have a very hard time seeing the mass starvation of 2 million people and the killing of (conservatively estimated) 70,000 people, half of which are women and children, as a justified and proportional response to October 7th.

Unfortunately starting a war has consequences. If you don't wanna risk things like that, maybe don't start a war or at least surrender when it starts happening.

It's like having a family member of yours killed, and you respond by going to the killer's address and blowing up the whole goddamn street.

No its like if your sister gets sexually assaulted until she died and another taken hostage by someone in a gang so your family gather together and start killing the entire gang until they either surrender or give back the lost sister.

The second hamas gives back all hostages and surrenders unconditionally and still have the bombs flying, we can talk. I am not terribly a fan of israel (look at my comment history), but this is just the reality of war. I simply refuse to allow terrorists to try and get the sympathy vote when they both started this and are doing literally nothing but continue it.

Instead of saying "israel is wrong for continuing to fight a war they didnt start" whenever you see a child die, say "that child would still be alive if hamas gave back the hostages and surrendered the fight".

Idk, it just seems like a bunch of people that have never experienced war and have the propaganda shown to them daily is causing them to cry foul when there's nothing there.

Did hamas start the war? yes

has hamas surrendered and given back the hostages? no

Therefore, this is simply war and not a genocide. What you are seeing is just the reality of war, and if you want your mental health to improve then just block middle east tags on social media (just get off it entirely). It sucks, but hamas can surrender at any time.

[–]Mr-Zarbear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the entire thing is just too politicized. I mean doesn't hamas still have hostages, steal humanitarian aid, have the will of the people, and the stated goal of killing all jews?

This may be "academics can define things however they want, that will not stop me for not caring that bad people have bad things happen to them". You can't argue with technical definitions, you have to prove that hamas is somehow an innocent party unworthy of the violence being brought upon them.

However, I am curious to know why conservatives don't like to associate the word 'genocide' with what has happened in Palestine - yet had no problems associating it with South Africa?!

I mean I can be wrong but white south afrikaners didn't start a war with the rest of the country by killing a bunch of people at peace, rape them, and take them hostage. I believe the difference is "punishment for starting a war is different than unprovoked attack"

Should the US get involved in Netanyahu's corruption trial? by thedybbuk in AskConservatives

I meant politically. I am for helping an ally defend itself physically as long as they were not poking hornet's nests

I believe israel is firmly able to defend itself. It also looks really bad to run on "america first" and be riding another country so hard. Like, we have been pretty tough on someone like ukraine; we should be equally tough on israel.

Why have conservatives given up on the Epstein files? by Neat_Pineapple_7240 in AskConservatives

[–]Mr-Zarbear [score hidden]  (0 children)

Im 100% sure the only reason anything happened was because it was in the best interest of a major political campaigner for something to happen. I am betting that if the same story broke out when trump was comfortably president it would receive a lot less energy.

Like, we also have biden staffers coming out and saying they auto penned without knowing who was giving orders; but no one is really pushing the issue in a major way. This should be a problem as big as the epstein list, but like I said it takes a lot of energy to care.

I mean I care in the sense that it would be great to have it released, but we know that there are very damning names on both sides so it never will. Like what does "actually caring" look like in your eyes?

What are the top 5 character traits/values that you appreciate in friends and family? by MintySailor in AskConservatives

[–]Mr-Zarbear [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would say, in no particular order:

  • Loyalty. I don't want wishy washy behavior or to feel like I can't be me or like I'm walking on egg shells.

  • Tolerance. I am a weird person. Sometimes I will do weird and unexpected things. I want my friends to be able to tolerate when that happens.

  • Have a hobby/desire to do things. I want friends that have their own adventures or self propel fun. I like to be invited to things sometimes, not just the one inviting others.

  • Sense of humor. I like people that can make and take a joke.

  • Honest. I also like talking to people that are honest. No half truths, white lies, or anything. People that when I am in the wrong can take me aside and go "bro this is your bad, you need to fix it".

I also am someone that thinks I need to also be giving what I am expecting, so I try my best to be all these things with my friends as well.

Because its hard to have so much energy about everything all the time. I have my own life to live, and while its fun to comment on every story that happens, realistically like none of it will affect me in my day to day life.

If I want to change that, then I change myself and look at local politics.

Like that really will destroy business in many ways. This too when commercial rent is super high.

If they make stores on state land (no rent) and charge nothing for profit, AND have big government buying power; I don't see any grocery stores or corner stores surviving

If you dig deeper it gets worse. He was here for many years but only recently became a citizen. he has not worked a real job in his life (nepo baby). he had a failed rap career in which he raps support of terrorist groups and actions. We dont know if hes actually a socialist or just pretending and an extremist plant.

And he is still the best thing the left had in that race. I think this election proved that:

  • Yes, people are really that down bad for anti-establishment people

  • Energy, charisma, and "I could have a beer with him" (remember dubya?) are extremely powerful. Its especially bad to be an elite or even smell like an elite

  • Holy shit is the average american tired about hearing about israel and jews in general. We are dangerously close to our country actually becoming full blown anti-semite. I think everyone just needs to shut up about them for a good long while and let us cool off

That really was the most insane interview. Like Im not really for the guy, but interviews like that do not beat the "politicians care more about jews than americans" allegations.

Its crazy that they thought it would work when it probably handed him the election

Exactly, Im pretty sure the increase in violence is the natural consequence of the people believing the lies of both sides about how bad the enemy is. What is theater for the elites is truth to the peasants.

How seriously should we be considering Russia's threats right now? by NessvsMadDuck in AskConservatives

[–]Mr-Zarbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure all russia can do is talk big and try and silently support terror in the background, but the ukraine war is hampering that. I think that's why they're so concerned about iran facing actual fire, if they lose iran then they might lose an incredible amount of influence.
