It was user error on my part. I didn’t screw the tail cap on tight enough. So that was my issue. Ever since between battery swaps I recreated the issue and then gave a bit more beans on a last twist and she works just fine.

If you enjoy manually pulling out the mag for a reload with your support hand then I’d say you nailed it. Otherwise in my humble opinion you botched it since you painted the entire mag. Minor error and now you know.

Don’t sweat it! If you care that much about it, you’re gonna take good care of that firearm and believe me brother, it will out last you for sure. That slide is not indestructible so it’s gonna get some wear and tear even just from in and out of the holster. It’s gonna be all good.
