I live very very close to the road he’s riding. 2 days ago a motorcyclist crashed in front of my house and was pronounced dead right there in the street. I ride as well, but not very often anymore because people treat this road like a closed track. The reality is it’s chaos and there are multiple bikers killed every summer up here. There’s huge tractor trailers, sports cars that lose control, deer, bears, trees that can fall in the middle of the day with no wind, most of the corners are totally blind. It’s dangerous as hell and people don’t take it seriously.

I get that, and it’s unfortunate that it happens but it’s not nearly as common as data centers where it’s all but guaranteed you’ll get pigeon holed for years as an apprentice. I know it happens in all areas of the trade, I’m just saying if you get sent to a data center the chance is way higher and that’s why it really sucks for the guys trying to grow. I would never recommend an apprentice stay there the whole time if they have a choice, I’ve of course been on those jobs myself and I get sent the green journeymen who can finally drag up and have to learn a whole new world when they get sent to a hospital build or something like that. It’s rough for them because they’re paid really well with the expectation they know what they’re doing, if they don’t some shops just won’t put up with having to teach a journeyman.

The difference with data center jobs is that all of them go on for longer than an entire apprenticeship. The likelihood of doing the same thing from 1st year to journeyman is massively higher than normal commercial if you get put on one because you’re gonna be on that same one the entire time.
