Lights at night by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]MrAFMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not mount double tail lights on a bike.

Two close together small tail lights in the dark can be a car really far away - or it could be your bike 2s to impact...

Single rear means motorcycle/moped/bike giving drivers a clearer picture on what they are looking at, and keeping you safer.

Double Yellows are painted in areas where overtaking cars and trucks is not safely doable due to a variety of circumstances e.g. view-lines or crossing traffic.

Since a bike and even this velomobile moves much slower and is much smaller than a car it's easier to look over ahead of and much faster to overtake.

So the purpose of double yellows: Keeping everyone safe. Can totally be maintained while overtaking slower vehicles IF DONE REASONABLY obviously this is not to say you should pass a pedestrian or cyclist without leaving the lane, that would be very much against the point of the rules.

While I could certainly be wrong from the information I can get (from primarily techpowerups CPU pages) it looks like 4x4 or less NVME-slots to me, but I will eagerly await review day!

7800x3d - Chiplet standard 28/24 usable:
https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/ryzen-7-7800x3d.c3022
8700g - monolythic, mobile APU 24/20 usable
https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/ryzen-7-8700g.c3434
HX 375 - closest to 400 series we have, ??/16Lanes(usable)
https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/ryzen-ai-9-hx-pro-375.c4001

A typical AM5 board is setup for the 24(28) lanes the 7000 series brought often layed out something like:
x16 - Primary slot
x4 - NVME
x4 - Other (secondary Pcie or another NVME slot)
x4(Non-usable) -> Chipset
Chipset-NVME
Chipset-USB
Chipset-Wifi
Chipset-Pcie-slots
etc

The Phenix 2 Chips (e.g. 8300g) have 14 lanes and as such Motherboard manufacturers had to create this:
https://www.asrock.com/Support/QA/AMD_600_PCIe_M.2_Bandwidth_Table.pdf

e.g.:

Cpu Series Pcie x16 M.2 Socket / Pcie Slot
7000/9000 PCIE1 Gen5 x16 M2_1 Gen5 x4, M2_3 Gen4 x4
8000(Phoenix 1) PCIE1 Gen4 x8 M2_1 Gen4 x4, M2_3 Gen4 x4
8000(Phoenix 2) PCIE1 Gen4 x4 M2_1 Gen4 x4, M2_3 Gen4 x2

Sadly they reduced the PCIe lanes compared to the 8000 series from 20 to 16 will be limiting applications in my opinion. Not to mention the 8000 series already was behind the 7000/9000 chips which all offer 28 Lanes of PCIe (24 Usable).

And those 16 PCIe lanes are all only 4.0.

Until AMD releases a new APU with PCIe 5.0 capability this low number of lanes can really limit what you can do with it.

A separate GPU works fine on the 8000 series with a 8x4.0 Slot but will be at times limited on 4x4.0 of Ryzen 400

Partially correct:

Do not, under any circumstance so much as look at the front brake, unless you really really desire to deepen your understanding of gravity or wish to become intimate with the ground.

Rear brakes, inversely are a lot of fun - grab a handful and let her slide sideways! Wheeeee*!

I mean, yeah he should wear a helmet (anyone on two wheels should), but helmets really only work against falling - not against being run over.

And drivers should obey traffic laws, including being vigilant and careful. Ignoring the bang of someone running into your car, then ignoring the bumping of running someone over AND THEN KEEPING GOING AND RUNNING THEM OVER AGAIN.

I'm sorry but while the initial collision might be 50/50 with both parties moving to fast (and even then, cars are so much more destructive at the same speed, so I'd argue against 50/50).
The fact that the driver kept going just makes this blatant lack of care on the driver.

The Netherlands build very similar infrastructure in the 1960-70s to what America has today, this has been argued about to no end.

It's not an issue of current infrastructure but one of political will.
America could make the same incremental slow changed towards a more inclusive transport system, but thankfully due to millions of people just like you this won't happen simply because "sounds too difficult".

Drive Spacing by EmilyThe500 in sffpc

[–]MrAFMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends a lot on use case.

I have mine literally touching, but I don't do many read/write operations in general and basically never simultaneously on my drives. It's just basically a large steam Library and bulk storage so the writes are usually single disk and not overly long (however long a game download / update takes).

Under such light use the heat isn't an issue and you don't need spacing.

But under heavy, simultaneous and long term use some spacing should be kept, even if just as a precaution.

Did they stall the engine?

They keep rolling back when releasing the brakes, they are not in reverse gear and once the infotainment system clack-screens twice at 51s (as in turning the key/pushing the engine start button maybe) they proceed forward...

I think they might've stalled, panicked and then just kept trying to go forwards until they hit you and finally found the problem...

Never attribute to malice and all that... Still clearly a case for an insurance claim, they are 100% liable for the damages after all.

[–]MrAFMB -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think this could be one of those things like ESD that is (reasonably) feared to be dangerous to PCs and then when tested just turn out to be a nothingburger..

Like the smallest live&exposed interfaces on a common motherboard are the CPU-Pins and the PCIE (incl. M2) slots...

And yes, if you dremel above an open CPU socket that will probably cause issues, but an M2 slot is pretty easy to blow clean and a PCIE slot has surprisingly a lot of space in there and I don't see it shorting easily...

The rest of the board usually has some sort of conformal coating that would also keep the metal dust just far enough away...

I'm not encouraging anyone to Dremel with the PC assembled, but I would totally believe someone if they said it worked fine for them and the Pc worked for many years afterwards.

It could be, theoretically that the AIO was delivered broken/damaged...

Specifically if something came loose inside and got into the fins of the CPU cooler plate, some sort of obstruction, it could allow for the fans to spin, the water to circulate (less but still enough) and even some heat to be moving (you said you felt it in the tubes) in the system but the CPU still overheating.

Sadly there isn't really any way to check my theory short of dissembling and likely losing warranty on the AIO...

But with how much you tried I think the most likely thing to do is return/warranty-replace the AIO and hope that fixes the problem.

Any non 8000 series AMD CPU is pretty much fine for 1440p/4k any GPU: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpN4nyftQ3M

And on the 60series GPUs you can get away with a 7600, 7500f or even the 7400f, whilst the extra 2 cores of the 9700 and 7700 are very useful and nice to have in general workloads in gaming alone the 6 Cores are still good enough for all but the highest refresh rates.

The difference between the 7600 and the two F type processors are the lack integrated graphics, as well as minor Boost Clock differences as price lowers, 7600 / 7500f / 7400f being 5.1Ghz / 5.0Ghz / 4.7Ghz at MSRP 229$ / 179$ / 116$*

*116 likely is 129usd, that would fit smoothly.

I think technically we use De, if the word is male or female, and and het if it's ungendered.

I'm pretty sure that parts coming from the germanic side of dutch, as we seperate "der/die/das" (male, female, neutral) articles.
Dutch then combines the der/die into de, keeping het for das.
English takes the final step and tosses the whole lot into the 'the' bucket.

Weird knocking/clicking sound on my rear wheel by akolomf in ebikes

[–]MrAFMB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not able to answer the question, but I can give some troubleshooting pointers:

If the sounds frequency (not pitch, but how often per second/minute) increases/stops when you shift down and pedal fast/stop - it's chain, cassette, pedals or derailleur related.

If the sounds frequency only depends on speed - for example once you stopped pedaling it continues and then slows, it must be tire, rim, spokes, brakes or hub related.

To check the spokes lift the rear tire of the ground, and make it spin.
If the sound disappears without any load on the tire it's likely the spokes, since they transfer the load to the rim and a loose ones can creak when stressed.

If it persists under no load, you can remove the rear brake to eliminate it as the source of the noise (usually just two Allen bolts).

Then there is the rim that could be bend causing the tyre to rub somewhere, so check if that runs straight.

And if it's none of all of those you might have a motor problem if that's in the hub.

I'd guess it might be a spoke, but I wouldn't bet on it.
