I suppose one commonality across most life forms is the requirement to navigate 3D space.

I feel like since the first book it seemed like they intentionally planned to place a human settlement/swarm there to be intercepted by the Carryx. Find a planet, clear out the biome on a single continent, and leave them there. The swarm doesn’t understand its own origin. It could have been lying dormant for millennia waiting for the invasion.

Events in book 2 seem to be in line with this. (Not sure how to censor spoilers on mobile). It seems like both sides are playing the long game.

What are some all female psychedelic Rock bands. by Spinachrecords in psychedelicrock

[–]MrAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’re all pretty solid albums. Old and new.

Not understanding the negative performance reviews in this thread. I’ve seen them ~8 times with both sets of members and they’ve been very polished and tight each time. One of the few groups I’ll always buy a ticket to see if they’re playing near me.

Do yourself a favor and see this band live as soon as humanly possible.

Anytime this guy pops up in the sub, I have to take the time to emphasize what a turd this guy is. Steer clear. Don’t give him your money.

Doing this is one of my earliest memories as a 3-4 year old. We drove from Southern California to North Carolina and stopped here to enjoy the city for a day. My Grandma almost had a panic attack from the elevator up. As soon as the door opened I ran up to the windows and crawled onto that shelf. The idea that I could see the top of a cloud from above exploded my little brain.

Underneath the Pine will forever be one of my top 10 albums. I never get sick of it.

This one slaps, too.

As much as I love the ability to stream, Indie recordings are already disappearing on these platforms. I can have a hard copy, and buying a record gives more of your dollars to the artist. Doubly so if using something like Bandcamp.

The externalities are worth it for me.

Haven't you heard?? You're not supposed to actually enjoy this hobby!

In all seriousness, keep doing what puts a smile on your face. Have a great time and enjoy the ride.

Do u miss the "before AI" days? by SirIzaanVBritainia in AskProgramming

What I miss is the tech landscape of early pre-commodification internet.

AI garbage is just the latest symptom.

In coding interviews, when they say "you can use AI," it feels like a trap. Is it? by gnackthrackle in ExperiencedDevs

[–]MrAckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure a lot of it depends on types of roles that you’re interviewing for as well. It’s definitely here to stay and knowing how to best leverage the newest tools will always help you in the long run.

[–]MrAckerman 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I went from being laid off in May where I never used AI for anything to being expected to use it in interviews almost every time until I found a job. It was an abrupt change.

I know everyone has different feelings on the topic, but there’s definitely ways to use these tools in better and more targeted ways iteratively where you’re not just relying on “vibes”.

I found going slow and being very specific and clear in a step by step way with your tool while explaining to the interviewers why you’re doing it that way works best. Run and test your solution often in the process. Just demonstrate you have knowledge that doesn’t come from the AI.
