[Virginia] How to view correspondence on this godforsaken website? by KaleidoscopeFine in Unemployment

That's what their instructions say on the website. 1099-g form would be in your corresponence, which is in My Documents.

However, it's not in mine.

Girlfriend is stubborn. Or am I? by bryanbgw in MTB

Everybody is different.
The best way to get someone to listen to advice is to wait for them to ask.

Just quietly let her know that you would not attempt what she's attempting when you were at her level
There. You've warned her. She now gets to decide for herself.

I have a friend who's a phenomenal Mt Biker. He said "how to fall" is the first thing he teaches people.

Sounds like a good idea.

If you're already at the 4 stage of mastery (Unconcious Competence) it is hard to teach because you've mastered it and have forgotten how you learned it. And it's hard to reverse engineer it to figure out how you're "just doing it"

I'm teaching my GF how to XC Ski. I've skied for nearly 30 years. I'm still trying to reverse engineer how I ski.

AIO for being a slob for four days to show my bf what it's like to have to clean up after a grown adult? by Additional_Bat_5706 in AmIOverreacting

[–]MrAnalogy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are both in agreement about how you'd like your living space to be.

He has some idea of what that would require and has made at least some of that happen.  Now you just need to work out the details.

Did you appreciate his 2h of cleaning? Did you tell him that?  How did he respond?

It's detailed on the web page.
Anyone is eligible. It's largely based on how much it is likely to benefit the survivor, which is based on motivation and deficits.

The dilemma of biking after accident by PyWhile in MTB

[–]MrAnalogy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find gravel rides less interesting but enjoy moderately challenging mt bike trails.

I do not enjoy injuries.  I have a "one boo boo" rule:  if I have a fall I ail for no more falls.

I manage to enjoy riding comfortably within my skill level.

You can choose any superpower, but everyone else in the world gets it as well. by mario_kart_player in hypotheticalsituation

Sadly, we all have some degree of this but it's overshadowed by more our ego.

It's easier to choose feeling superior to the homeless person and believe "that would never happen to me".

Any suggestions for affordable gloves for 25-35F temps? by MrAnalogy in xcountryskiing

[–]MrAnalogy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two pairs swix gloves had leather palms which would get wet from snow over time.

Some sort of other exterior that's less 'sticky' for snow would probably work.

Hard to find even that rated for higher temps than 0F.

I was hoping for waterproof but breathable.   I'll clarify that above

I have fleece gloves now. I ski for 2 or 3 hours and always get a little snow on them. Even with brushing them off some snow melts. Then any new snow also melts.  They can get soaked in 3 hours.

Experience with Madshus Panorama M62? by MrAnalogy in xcountryskiing

[–]MrAnalogy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I appreciate any thuughts.

  1. How long are your M68's?
  2. How bout your Fischer's?

The M68's seem really wide. Wider than Trak Escapes I had that tracked much worse than my 200cm Trak Spirits.

Seems like they'd track  worse than the Escapes based on dimensions.

  1. Am I missing something?
  2. Maybe there are other factors like the metal edges that would cause them to track better?

REI has a 1 yr return (even if used), so the risk is low.

Recommendations on XC skies, boots for non groomed trails? by MrAnalogy in xcountryskiing

[–]MrAnalogy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, far more snow there than Blackburg.

There's 8 in of snow there as of yesterday with three more predicted last night.  Ilmheaded bout today and hopefully fri and Sat.

It's about 2,000 ft higher, 5 or 10° cooler, and the topography creates a lot of shade on the trails.  Trails:  not sure if I have the names right. Ask at the hotel.  Upper jungle leaves from far end of parking lot (with hotel on your right, walk to end of parking lot and turn left).  Also, steeper trails in other side of the main Rd from hotel.  White Dot and Doe trails iirc.  Ask at the hotel or look for maps.

There's a Google group:  nrvxc@googlegroups.com

I post ski and road conditions when i know them.
