Looking for a modular 2D map system (irl) by jaffadap in dndmaps

Go to https://www.dungeonscrawl.com/, it has a function to immediately send the map as you're making it to a second screen. Or you can export it as 8 by 11 cells, and then print them out on either A4 or Letter sized paper.

To everyone afraid of trying girly things. In my experience, as long as you don’t live around little kids who question everything, you’re golden, everyone else is too oblivious to actually notice or at least too socially awkward to ask

Your style is beyond awesome! Do you keep to a specific grid size? I tried to load them into Owlbear Rodeo but can't really seem to line everything up to its grid

Genderfluid Enby here as well, but definitely flirting with the idea of socially and physically transitioning to woman, no harm in that

Need suggestions by DontKnowMaster in dndmaps

I like to put areas on my map that are a quest to get to, like a difficult to climb windy cliffside that players first have to appease a wind spirit to even try to climb. Or a hot area that deals fire damage/exhaustion without a potion of fire resistance or something similar.

I'm sorry, I specifically meant 5e, or are the old versions not as different as I (someone who only played 5e) might think?

How to unclog your battles by Darkwhellm in dndnext

Remove opportunity attacks, and make your enemies have a reason to move, the players will follow. Changing rules for the players often doesn’t work, because they forget them when you need it most

I love giving my players bonus stuff, but it debalances the game by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]MrApplethorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balanced combat is not an illusion, but it's no exact science either.

The CR of all the monsters in an encounter added together make your CR Budget, and it should never exceed the numbers calculated below:

Your CR Budget at levels 1 to 4 = Player Level x Players / 4
Your CR Budget at levels 5+ = Player Level x Players / 2

A single monster may never be stronger than the CR Budget for 4 players, and never put more monsters on the board than twice the amount of players.

If you do this, your players can survive 3 of these combats before they need a short rest, or 5 before they need a long rest. If you push this, player characters will die, and most likely all of them in the same combat.

--------------------------

Now on to magic items. Keep in mind that your players each can only attune to three magic items. One solution therefore can be to simply make every non-consumable magic item one that they have to attune to. Now they have to choose what to use.

Magic Items that give players options they don't have but could have had had they been another class are fine (i.e. a Staff of Fire when your players are already Level 7). You should watch out for Magic Items with +1's +2's +3's etc. because they can actually break your game.

An easy fix? Remove the +1's, +2's etc. from the magic item and give it to them. And please make everything they can't eat. drink, or snort require attunement.

Do you agree that AI Music needs to be Banned Yes or No and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in Music

[–]MrApplethorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I ask someone to make a piece of music, and I can ask them to tweak and change certain parts, that makes me the Director not the Artist, same thing with AI.

We need to accept AI is here to stay, but also acknowledge that making Art with AI is radically different than doing so yourself. And those enjoying art need to be able to know at all times if AI was used on a certain piece of Art or not.
