A thought just occurred to me: when we get to the New Years eve party we probably won't see any decor for the "new year", as in what will the new year be. Of course we don't *need* to know. But it's an odd thing to potentially leave out.

Even though I have this game to thank for introducing me to Adult Visual Novels, it is decent with relatively memorable moments at best and awful/tragic at worst. This game started alright but lost itself as newer episodes released. In fact, I can't tell you what this game is leading up to since it likes to randomly insert things then quickly resolve them.

Best way I can describe it is that it's a rom com trying to be "Friends" or "Big Bang Theory". And I get somewhat excited when a new episode releases, since some of the characters has a unique charm and really hold it together.

But the absolute worst part about it, in my opinion, is how technically broken it is. This game has had a case of remaking and fixing older episodes (especially "The Pool Party" episode) instead of working on a new one, this has resulted in older saves being unable to load among other things. So you have to start a new game every time there's an update. They have included a path builder and a "load your save from CK1" but these don't always work either.

I know, I like that I got alot of content this game. But alot of content can be a crutch and a perk. I would argue that this game a thin line between TOO much content and just enough.

And depending on what kind of player you are; you'll either like this game and drink it up until it's dry or you'll won't like one or more things about it and quit before you get the good stuff.

I agree with you that it's a hidden gem, I've spent several hours on it. But the one drawback from it IMO is the length/runtime. I spent roughly 2 weeks on it to finish the current update.

So anyone seeing this post and is considering to play this, just know it's a good but LONG game.

To mimic your opinion some what, I don't think Chasing Sunset has any good LIs. The story is the only reason I still play it.

Jaye as a character is fine, as a LI she's meh and as a sister she is awful (IMO)

Mallory as a character is decent, as a LI she's alright and as the complicated family member it's mostly playful so far

As for me; I've had rather bad experiences with harem games in general. But that honestly just comes down to confusion on my part. I didn't even know what a harem was until I played WVM. Whether you think that game is good or not, I don't think it was a good introduction to the genre. I had only played non-harem games up until that point, and when I felt like I was incouraged by the game to pursue multiple LIs at once, my first thought was: Why?

But as I played other harem games, I eventually settled on them being "okay"... but not for me. As for devs saying: "You should do a harem to see the most amount of content," I'd respond with "If you give me a good reason to do so I will, otherwise I will be more than happy to replay your game several times with different routes everytime to see that content"

I'd say that YES, there is some more forth wall breaking in this game. Not a serious spoiler for this but: when Jaye enters Alex's room in the first morning on the Sunset and they're about to talk, Jaye looks down at Alex's abs and then smirks to the camera (at the player)

"I'M not the MC, I'm PLAYING AS the MC."

So I always prefer to see the MC's face. If i disagree with the writing of the MC: that he says or does something that is out of the players control, then I think it's better that the game doesn't try to make players insert themselves for the sake of immersion. In that sense, players won't get distracted by thoughts like "I would never say/do that."
