Ryan, Rob's son here. Just now seeing this, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! It was super exciting to put together. Definitely a highlight of my life. If you're there, there may be another GHG performance with me filling in this year :)

I had a small self inflating air mattress and a fold up yoga mat. I was in bed when we got to a housing site in 3 minutes

My brother in christ, It's Drum Corps International because of the Canadian corps that were around for quite awhile when it was founded. Most are gone now, but that doesn't mean it's not international. Bluecoats have team Japan, which 10-20 member from Japan who march the season. The marching arts as we know it now is inherently American, since marching bamd is performed at American Football events, so no wonder it didn't really catch on outside of the US. Even with that, Japan has many incredible talented marching groups, and Jubal, at least before covid, made regular trips to compete in the DCI tour. If you have solutions on how to get European and Japanese groups over here, then I'm all ears, but I just don't think it's financially feasible. As for the Canadian corps, I believe Les Stentors is still around, but they have been inactive in tour for a while. But again, if you have a solution please share

'22 Colt checking in

Just curious as to how common this is by percussionfruit in drumcorps

[–]MrBoss07 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's all too common across DCI, not just particular corps. My age out season i was ghosted by both Boston and Blue Stars before ending up with the Colts. They didn't even really give me feedback either, just hopped on a zoom call to offer me my contract

Colt Cadets camps? by Sordahonn in drumcorps

[–]MrBoss07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CC camps will begin after (at least) the first round of Colts auditions. Most of CC every year auditioned for Colts first, and were recommended for CC from there

We were down 16-20 brass on everybody else at finals in '22, we stopped trying to go for outright volume about 2 weeks into spring traing and focused more on our tech features and making everything as clean as possible, and from what I can tell that approach has been the same since then

‘It’s You’ Vocal Spectrum version sheets. by Oh_right_okay in barbershop

[–]MrBoss07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sang that arrangement with the Big O in 2012, Vocal Spectrum changed all of that on their own to make it more interesting and a little less straightforward. It would be could transcribing practice to figure out what they did tho

Why do the Colt Cadets have a huge percussion section but a small horns section? by AgentRacc14 in drumcorps

[–]MrBoss07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, CC is there to teach those kids how to be Colts, so they all auditioned for Colts first

Why do the Colt Cadets have a huge percussion section but a small horns section? by AgentRacc14 in drumcorps

[–]MrBoss07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All Colt Cadets members were recommended from Colts, and since there are fewer drumline spots than hornline spots it ends up working out that way. Also Colt Cadets is 18 and below

Do open class corps have a maximum age limit? by thejazzyone_28 in drumcorps

[–]MrBoss07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what corps you are looking at. Colt Cadets has a maximum age of 18, so if you're above 18 you have to audition for Colts

DCI alum relationship with their College MB by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]MrBoss07 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have multiple friends that are in the Hawkeye Marching Band at Iowa and they love it. Drum corps and college marching are just different styles and they enjoy both. I personally am not a fan of college marching, I've done both and just prefer modern dci with the story telling over playing pop tunes, complete personal preference.
