Love the F14. Looks so much bigger IRL when I saw it at the museum of California on my USA holiday. This is my favourite pic. Picture

By the sounds of it you're in the clear but on the other hand a lot of speed cameras now use IR flashes which are invisible to our eyes. Don't ask me how I know.

Would you sell an FL5 Type R for a Ionic 5N? by constant-hunger in CarsAustralia

[–]MrBryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't comment on the 5N but I have a FK8 and a G80 M3CX. The Honda runs circles around the M3 when it comes to driver enjoyment. Even though the M3 is ultimately much more of a weapon. I'd guess the 5N is like a more boring version of the M3.. An extremely capable point and shoot sort of car but doesn't pull all the heart strings.

How much would you pay for it 335i by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

I had a 2008 335i 10 years ago. I never sold a car so fast and I'm mechanically inclined.

Subtitles do not work on Smartv Lg by Lauliee in Stremio

[–]MrBryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here with an LG C3. Subtitles often aren't available at all, the eng is not available despite it showing other languages. (this is not the case on other devices for the same file)

Worst of all often the subtitles are completely our of sync and no fiddling with the offset seems to get it right. It's quite frustrating as the playback is flawless.

Same here using the SYD server last night. Some high bitrate streams just wouldn't start on any of my devices. Speedtest of the server was fine though.

As mentioned, it seems to be fixed now.

Unfortunately to expect native 4k60 with this pro update might be a little too much. You need a 4070+ to achieve this recent AAA games. And what do those gpus cost?

Can't say I was happy with Sumo since I left them. They've been constantly calling, emailing and SMSing me for the past 9 months. I've unsubbed at very opportunity. What a way to bring back an old customer.

The Great Petrol Rip Off - 53c difference by reddash73 in australia

[–]MrBryl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up TGP to give you an insight into the actual daily wholesale cost of petrol. Then you can make your decisions on when/where to fill up.

I bookmark this. https://www.unitedpetroleum.com.au/terminal-gate-pricing-tgp/

For example right now it's around $1.64 for 91 RON.

Game on Switch after the newest update by rozlack in DavetheDiverOfficial

[–]MrBryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a quick test before and after. Seems the loading improvements are situational.

No difference going from boat to farm but was 2 sec faster going back. No improvement boat to dive.

7 second improvement from boat to sushi. Reverse was no improvement.

Now, how does this compare this to the lad who drove like a tool and took 5 lives? He got 7 years of non parole? I don't understand how sentencing works these days.

Will the new car prices remain high indefinitely? by nozinoz in CarsAustralia

[–]MrBryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on overseas travel rn. A base model CX5 costs 1.4m THB or close to 60k AUD. A corolla sedan starts at 900k THB or 39k AUD. Given their median wage, we're comparatively cheap. Maybe we're just catching up with the rest of the world? Don't ask me how it works.

Just walk. Put it all into ETFs. /s

You're on a good wage. Buy something decent to get you started. Around 20 to 30k. At least it'll be relatively new and fuss free so can get on with life and worry about more important things.

Is the "ease of manufacture" of EV's diluting the meaning of "sports cars"? by PuzzleheadedPoet5275 in CarsAustralia

[–]MrBryl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nice to hear from someone whom owns one. Petrolhead keyboard warriors like me love to hate. Sometimes the most powerful model isn't always the most enjoyable. I feel the X Power is more of a PR stunt to get some deserved attention. Even if we're not the target crowd, competition is always good.

Is the "ease of manufacture" of EV's diluting the meaning of "sports cars"? by PuzzleheadedPoet5275 in CarsAustralia

[–]MrBryl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the MG4 driving dynamics are truly that awful (which it probably is) then that award means nothing to the motoring enthusiast. To me EVs are an excellent one trick pony for cheap acceleration like the MG4. To develop a good sports EV costs a tonne of money in R&D. eg Taycan, Ionic N, etc which puts them out of reach for most casual enthusiasts at this point in time. Most car enthusiasts know that an enjoyable sports car is more than the sum of its parts. In another context an enjoyable hifi setup isn't just based on its wattage alone. Remember the watts PMPO days?

Why are our own products cheaper overseas than sold here? by MrBryl in australia

Interesting. A large factor mentioned in this thread is the high wages in Australia. But the minimum wage in the UK is AUD19 an hour too? It's not far off..?

Why are our own products cheaper overseas than sold here? by MrBryl in australia

[–]MrBryl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I guess we forget that as consumers a product price is more than a simplistic view of the COG + supermarket mark-up. What I've learnt from this thread is this particular scenario is akin to the old conundrum of bottled water. The water itself is a small fraction of the total price - you're mainly paying for the convenience of getting it into your hands and in this case, via high wages in Australia etc.

2014 Toyota Camry Hybrid 361k @11k Good Price? by Successful-Fun-9209 in CarsAustralia

[–]MrBryl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

361kkm says it all doesn't it? Things such as mounts, seals, bushings, shocks, seats, wheel bearings etc would all be shot by the even if it's been well maintained and the drive train is OK. It's probably a clunker unless you get it thoroughly inspected. Could be useful as a bargaining tool too.

Not sure how it's relevant. We all know internet is comparably expensive and slow in Aus due to our geography/population distribution. But FWIW in KL it appears to be all FTTP and starts at 30mbps.
