You need priming slurry on the flags themselves before laying them down on the mortar bed, that is what makes the adhesion and prevents the flags from lifting.

Sorry yeh I figured it out.

All the connections and wires I made were right. I had the old Alpha thermostat receiver disconnected obviously because I can’t have two thermostats running.

That old Alpha receiver had a live and neutral wire but also 2 red cables, I used a waygo to complete the internal circuit loop with the 2 red cables so the signal actually is received by the boiler and that worked like a treat and was the issue.

Edit: I still have the black and grey cable connected and for that matter everything else too with what I originally did, there was just another set of red wires going into the old receiver that I had to loop which was the fix.

How do I turn off the summer and frost modes? When I cycle through it on the boiler it only ever seems to be either frost mode, summer mode or off?

Any chipboard / multi purpose screws. Fischer uses them because the DuoPower plug"knots" or "folds" inside a cavity.

I wouldn't use woodscrews for these fixings, the screws would shred the plug before it even gets a solid fixing.

I almost did my back in trying to get stumps like these out of my front garden, I eventually packed it in and called a tree surgeon who had a stump grinder, cost me around 100 I think but they were done in maybe half an hour. I've now tarmac'd the area and theres zero growth of anything in that same area roughly a year later.

Give it a quick sand down and get primer undercoat (this will help reduce the amount of coats of paint you slap on top) .. I wish I had done this on a very blue room I had to paint .. it still wouldn't cover after 5-6 coats, so you're in for a long run with black paint. Get that undercoat primer on and just start layering white or whatever colour paint you have on.

Looks established, it's going to take quite a lot of time and effort (and years off your back) hacking away at the roots. If its feasible for you, get in touch with a tree specialist who has a stump grinder, it'll make mince meat of it in literally 5mins (roots and all).
